Locally we have had a real problem with people knocking on the door to see if anyone is home, then kicking it in if noone answers. Then they pillage the place. You just never know.
Sounds like an opportunity for a "target rich environment" if you don't answer the door

Two month ago 2 guys tried to break into my house at 2:30 in the morning. My wife woke me up and I watch what they were doing and went outside to stop them. My wife FREAKED OUT because I went out unarmed. The one guy ran off and the other one I fought to the ground and held until the police showed up. My wife called 911 the minute I went outside and the police got there in about 3 minutes. The cop asked me and I told him that if they had gotten into my home I would have killed them. I made a decision not to kill, I've always have had guns in my home and it was the first time I could have used one of them and would have been in the right. I did not want to clean up the mess if they had gotten in that night. Would I do it again that way? I won't know until the time comes.

Runway? what runway??

A good example of how every situation is different and there isn't a hard and fast rule.

I'm glad it worked out for you, but if they'd been armed you'd likely be dead.

I'm not sure why you'd go outside to confront the threat, ESPECIALLY when there are two of them Not a very good decision IMO.

Good for you,you got one of them, who will most likely rat on his buddy. But in my opinion you took a very big and unnecessary risk, the out come could have very easily came out not so good for you had his partner stayed to help. You get older and you won't take those risks.

bmw, what on Gods green earth made you decide to go outside and confront those guys unarmed? To be honest, I'm always up for a little "hand to hand" but not "two on one breaking in my house"!
