I have two R90Se ships with G-force heads and bellcranks. I just love them. They fly super smooth steady and brisk. About the best flying heli I've had or flown. Was tempted with the new T700 offering. but my R90se's are just flying too damn good to swap out for the new kid on the block.

Horses for courses but I just feel it gets old hearing about 'ALL' of the Align QC issues
You know what really gets 'old'? You knocking Raptors every chance you get.
You love Align and hate TT...We get it already let it go.

Just the same way you are tired of hearing about Align issue maybe some people who own Raptors do not like to hear thier birds are outdated.

You couldn't be more wrong. I have owned Raptors and got a lot of enjoyment out of flying them. If TT updated their line (more than just stickers mind you) then I would seriously look at them again.

You are correct that their current line up does not interest me at all. I keep an eye on the TT thread HOPING that I will see something new from TT. I am continually disappointed...

Goodbye to my Raptors - hello to Align. I have come to the decision (after having a boomstrike with my Titan ( http://runryder.com/helicopter/t455690p1/)) that I am now phasing out my Raptor fleet. I have flown the flag for the Raptors at my club while others have moved on and i still like flying my V2 - I've had this one for over three years and must be coming up to 1000 flights and it's still going strong. A few crashes and still with the original mainframes. I can't knock the ol' dear but I want to have a go at competing doing the 3D silly stuff and I'm afraid the poor Raptor is showing it's age. I have upgraded as best I can (Kasama head etc) but it still feels spongy/heavy doing all the silly stuff. I'm just trying to think how many 3D competitions the Raptor has won - not many that I know of. This is evidence that today's 3D flying style is much more aggresive than 5 years ago. I am surprised TT have not come up with something to rival Align or the other contenders - I'm sure they will in time. I guess it boils down to what you want it to do - Raptors = great for learning on and improving flying skills. Align/Compass = great for learning on and locked in when maxing it to the limit. Trex's seem to be cheaper for what you get and spares are comparable. If TT were to come out with an improved design to equal/better rivals I would definately consider it but at the moment .................????

I'm sorry guys but I think that the original point of this thread has been lost in the battle over how makes the better 3D machine. When I go back and read Dr. Phil's original thread starting post he's just stating that he enjoys the good old tried and true reliability of the raptor line. The thread title says it as well "Raptor May be Old". I actually enjoy flying my TT heli's. They fit my flying style and ambitions. I'm just out to enjoy the hobby. It really doesn't matter to some of us that we are being out flown by more extreme pilots. The fact is that a Raptor is just a good old work horse that delivers consistent reliable flights time and time again.

Yup.
Got 2 R90SE with full Kasama gear that will not go anywhere. The SE's are the reliable workhorses while I fiddle with the new toys as well.

I see zero reason to even consider replacing the R50's, as with the Kasama heads they are flawless and ultra reliable.

AND, if you watched the latest Colin Bell video, you will see that the Raptor 50 does indeed pop quite a bit.

You just described my out of the box Vibe 50. Not one single upgrade is needed either.

Maybe you should check your parts prices agian. And also, you wont need to replace your frames every time you crash. Most say the vibe is cheaper to crash then a rex600n!

You need to look again, the clutch shoe is $20 and the complete clutch bell is $15 at readyheli. The same raptor parts at ricks are $16 and $18. Never mind that the Vibe quality is 10 times better. The vibe auto hub is much better than the raptor it has a one way and 2 radial bearings in the hub and besides you will never have to replace it.

The Vibe and Align may well be a fine helicopter. But this is the Raptor forum and we don't really care. Some folks just just can't feel good about there stuff unless they are putting the other brand down or raining an another guys parade. sheesh... What happen to "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything".

Arrio you said it!! I have flown everything out there and my raptors can take a beating and not once have i ever had to dail indicate the fan or clutch! For the money and ease of maintenance you cant beat them. I can say without a doubt that the raptor has taken more people into the hobby with ease then any other machine ever made! I wonder if anyone knows how many raptor kits has been sold since they came out? I would love to know!

You know it doesnt ever cease to amaze me how many people preach and preach how the raptor is the worse heli on the market right now but yet they time and time again come into this forum. I mean if the raptor is old and out dated and cant handle all of your hardcore 3d flying (lol) why even come into this old and outdated forum??? It really is a joke!! Move on!! Cya! Youll be back!!lol Its just getting tiresome of the same people preaching.
