I just bought a converted 9303, the bind plug comes with the module. The binding procedure is the same. You can make your own bind plug it's just a jumper wire to the left and right pins.

Insert bind plud in the rx bind/batt port, connect battery to rx you should see the rx start flashing and then turn on the power to your tx while holding the bind button on back of the module. Wait until the rx light goes solid and your done. Simple as that. I always rebind when I finish setting up the model. Then range check and fly.

As far as a battery, I don't think they are lithium. They might be Nimh. I have a JR 2500 8 cell battery pack that lasts forever.

Binding plug will ship with the mod kit. The bind plug is nothing special, just a servo connector with the two outer pins connected to each other, and it plugs into the battery slot of the RX when you are going to bind the radio. Takes only a few seconds to do.

Again, the manual that will come with the 2.4 GHz Spektrum upgrade will tell you how to bind.

It's simple. Put the binding plug in the RX battery slot (or the slot indicated on the RX body as "bind", apply power to the RX. The yellow LED in the RX flashes as the RX goes into bind mode. Since the battery port is occupied by the bind plug, you'll need to plug the battery pack into any available receiver port.

If you use a JR or Spektrum switch harness that has all three wires in it (red, brown, and orange), you would plug the harness into the battery port of the RX as usual, and connect the binding plug to the charge receptacle of the switch harness. Then turn on the RX, it will go into bind mode and the yellow LEDs will start flashing.

Set the throttle stick on the TX to the position that you want the throttle to go to for failsafe, generally low throttle.

Hold the BIND button that's on the TX module down as you turn on the TX and hold it until the yellow LED on the RX stops flashing.

Turn off the RX, remove the bind plug.

Turn off the TX.

That's it.

If that 9303 has a small lithium coin cell to keep the model memories alive, your best bet for replacement is to ship it off to Horizon and let them do it. If that 9303 has a lithium coin cell, they last for at least 5 years, perhaps longer.

BTW -- I just read through the XP9303 manual, there is no internal memory keep-alive battery, the model parameters are stored in FLASH memory.
Flash Memory

All preprogrammed data is protected by a flash memory that guards against main transmitter battery failure.
And there is no other reference in the manual regarding an internal memory keep-alive battery.

No internal battery to replace. That's nice.

Lithium battery for Tx - I'm using a 11.1v lipo from common sense for my Tx(9303). I have installed a diode to drop the voltage. But, I think that two diodes would work better and make the voltmeter on the Tx more useful.
