Been looking for a long time and still have not seen any custom canopies for the furion 450..... I really don't like the one it came with at all and would like to get a custom one.. This heli is awesome but needs a good looking canopy to go with it.

What is it you don't like? It's hard to tell what material the canopy is made of unless it's being examined up close. Do you not like the shape? The windscreen? Decals?

For what it's worth, I painted one of my canopies and have been flying it every chance possible for the last couple of months. The paint adheres well and it still looks good, IF you prep the surface of the plastic well.

I have read here that there are better vinyl decals in the works for the Furion, the current ones don't seem to stretch to contour, or stay on very well.

I think that once you put some time in flying this machine, you will come to appreciate this canopy for it's practicality. It's a bit wider than the Beam canopy for instance, but it goes on quick and easily. The large windscreen area provides good contrast for orientation, and it holds up better than a FG canopy. I wasn't too crazy about the canopy at first either, it's grown on me quite a bit though. JMHO your mileage may vary!

One quick tip that has helped me, if the rubber grommets don't want to slip over the canopy posts easily, a little application of petroleum jelly works wonders.

I'm with Jay on this. I hated the canopy at first, but I it did grow on me. I actually prefer it to the fiberglass canopies on my T-rex 450's now. It doesn't get all those stress cracks from putting it on and removing it over and over like GF. And I like the way the mounting posts are hidden. The Furion canopy has that classic MA look which allows it to stand out in a crowd of T-rexes, Thunder Tigers and Beams.

I agree the decals need attention/redesign for the reasons previously stated. Why can't the decals be imbedded during the molding process like on a plastic kayak or canoe?

the shape is great and I like the way it mounts but the decals have gotta go.. really I just feel I have a top end machine and want it to look like a top end machine..( inside and out ) I would like a FG canopy painted up nicely just for show to be honest... I don't paint so the painting my own is out of the question.. Thanks David

There are some for sure advantages of the stock canopy. I personally would like a Glass canopy for the weight savings and the fact I can paint it my self. This has been talked about for a while but I have yet to see one available to the public.

I have a few sets of the new furion vinyl decals and the look great. they are a huge improvement from the stock ones. i ran my canopies without the original decals for the reasons mentioned above, but i think everyone will be very pleased with the new ones. I will try and post a few pics later today.

The borders are precut so just peel and stick. I haven't put any on yet, but it looks very promising.

Oh, and yes, that's purple.

As soon as I get around to ordering a new canopy to put them on, I'll let you know. But from the looks of it, they seem like they'll stick much better. Since they're Vinyl, they should conform better as well so you won't get the annoying bubbles.

sorry i took so long to post these.... its been a busy holiday season.

Here are pics of the red and green schemes. thanks jphilli for posting the purple. All three look awesome on the canopies and adhere very well.

And a fiberglass canopy is coming soon for those that want it. The molds are done for it, so it shouldn't be much longer until its available to the public.

yea these are just the vinyl decals that i posted earlier about... I said i would put up pics but didn't get around to it until tonight.

As soon as I get one of the fiberglass canopies, I'll post pics. I'm in no rush to put a FG one on though since I beat up the 450s a lot more than a bigger machine. I prefer the stock canopy.

So how and when can we get the new decals? Are these MA product or is it aftermarket, not that it matters, just curious.

Thanks,
Pete

The new decals are an MA product. They do a nice job of molding and sticking to the canopy.
The new FG canopy mold that OICU812 said would probably never come looks good too! Of course the next thing that everyone will gripe about is having to buy the FG canopy...
