Hello all, dont know who all is still in this hobby today that was active back when I was on here selling my dakine custom canopies.

But I come on here expecting to find all these people doing custome paint work, and cant find anyone who is very active in the fury anymore.

These trex helis look sweet, but someone fill me in on what the craze is all about with the new.

Sorry been gone for so long, started my own Body repair business, and it has been very good for me, but takes all my time.

My son's birthday he got his first model rocket set, and it sparked a little fire in me to get back into this with him.
He being 8 he already is flying the sim and doing better than me.
Video games has got him going early.

Well hope is all good, and someone let me know if the MA fury is going out or what.

welcome back. seems things are moving forward at a blistering pace right now. With new heli's, gyros, TX's, flybarless, battery technology and more all coming out so fast its hard to keep up! But I have a great time trying.

I put the fun in dysFUNctional :)

So is the align or avant the new, they look almost the same, looks like align has it going, and avant is just in the beginning, or do I have it wrong?

They both have my attention, just dont know enough about each to make a choice.

I do like the thought of owning a 90 size, but dont know if I should.

feedback will be great.

I am on reading past posts on this, and just not getting enough info, someone give me a link that discribes these new helis in great detail.
Thanks

Regarding the Avant, you still can't get one. They were said to be available in early 2007, but Augusto kept on missing his dead lines. The heli was officially released, but you can't find kits anywhere.

Regarding Align, they have completely taken over the market. They sell helis with bare minimum quality to get rid of them for the lowest price. They do fly well, but it seems with every heli they release, you have to buy some sort of an upgrade to get it to fly right.

You get your son flying heli's and you will not keep up with him. Check out Kyle, can't remember his last name, about 7 or 8 yrs old and flying compatition 3d flight.

The electrics are popular now because you can plug an play, smaller 450 size is popular because they are cheaper to repair and you can fly at a local park if you watch out carefully for bystanders. The new digital tx is faster and the gyro's and servo's respond quicker so now the small heli's are much easier to fly than they used to be.

Now that batteries are getting better, lighter and last longer many are getting into 500 size electric helis for more stability.

But the big thing is a lot of people like me are into electric heli's that can be flown in the yard or park. I would not have ventured into this hobby if I had to start out with a gasser that I had to take to a flying field every time. Not enough time to spend a day away from the family and at $60 and $100 for blades for the bigger ones I would not have even started.

As in every heli I agree about bare bones kits, upgrade to make better is how they make money.

I was trully worried about this align for that very reason about upgrades to make nice, I started out with a 30 xcell that was wire driven tail, and what I fly today is a caddy compared to the old.

I do like how the align puts the motor and gas tank closer to center of heli, makes easy to see how much fuel you still have, better air dianamics, etc.

To me it all comes down to this, easy set up, low cost, tech help on the field, and long life from the heli and less table time.

And most important to me is feild time sharing time with others and enjoying a hobby that has done nothing but get bigger it looks like.

I just watched a video on some flying that I just about droped a load in my pants, I never have seen the type of flying back then that I am seeing right now, electric or gas.

I couldnt even keep my eyes on the heli on what it was doing, fantastic, I will be taking my son to the next ircha event for sure.

I do like electric, for the reason of flying anywhere, and low cost, but to me its all about the smell of that fuel, and the sound.
To each his own on that.
So it sounds like if I am looking for the next to add to my fleet will be the align, unless something comes up diffrent.

I agree, someone told me buy it bulk, its cheaper.

What does a 90 take in fuel now? I use cool power 30 w/enya 3 plug, 60WC from the beginning, whats cheaper these days?

MA are releasing a new 90 soon so that should spark renewed interest in MA helis. For me personally, their high cost, parts count and complexity ruin the fun factor - and I own a Fury!

After adding Align helis to my fleet, the fun factor is back in a big way. Cheap to buy and own, parts everywhere, help everywhere, and they fly very well.

Yes, there are probably better quality helis out there but EVERY heli has its issues and you just have to buy what suits your needs. Plenty of good stuff to choose from nowadays - and it's almost all reasonably priced for what you get.

Many people still run the same fuel you used to but due to cost many have switched to 20% Nitro with little performance loss. I have always run 20% and never had an issue.

Welcome back!

MA is releasing a new version of their 90, now that will be awsome to see, lets hope its more cost effective than what the align is so far from what I am seeing.

Its sick to see that I can buy align kit for around 600 if I find a bargin.

thats two heli kits for the price of a MA kit almost.

I also saw a strut kit for the align for about 10 bucks, when a MA kit is double the price.

Align has a good thing going, and we need good competition here to keep this hobby affordable.

What you have are outdated by "modern standard", BUT they are in every way, more than decent as your son's first heli and your refresher heli. I will suggest getting the dust off your furys, give the heli and engine a bit of maintance and try them with some fresh nitro and battery packs.

Better gyros and governors have been released since the 401 and gv-1 days, but they are still decent stuff.

Align's are great in the pricing department, but not as well on the quality and QC side...as I have personally found out.

biglahou, did you mention how long you were away from the hobby? Sounds like quite a while. Another thing to look at, if not mentioned previously, are the new 500 sized electrics. They seem to have the proper balance of size, stability and battery size/price.

I was Spektrum when Spektrum wasn't cool
