Wanting to know if the 12 vdc,5a power supply from FMA is sufficient for my cellpro 4s charger. The website says it is but is there any limitations to the charging rates with this power supply. I don't want to have to buy the 10s and 28 amp supply if I don't have to.

I am only going to be charging 3s batts on it. For the price it seems I may be better off getting another 4s charger and 2 of the 5a supplies, so I can charge 2 batts at once.

Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks

Kevin

thats the beauty of the 4S you can charge how you want I have used a 1.5A supply and set it to 1A charge rate. But even at 3C charge rate a 5Amp supply is big enough I dont remember I think I got to around 4ammps charging at 3C. I am a PC power supply fan been using one for a year or more now flawlessly.

Will you want to charge 2 batteries at the same time?

Say, 2 3S 2100 Mah batteries?

At 2C, you will need 8.4 amps.

MMike I will want to charge 2 batts at the same time but with 2 4s chargers and 2 power supplies I think i'll have it covered?
I should only need to charge batts at home and at the field I can charge 1 at a time.
If my thinking is wrong let me know.

What is the cost of 2 5 amp power supplies?

You CAN power 2 or more chargers off of one power supply.

The reason I ask is, I'm unhappy with my 9 amp power supply.

I was trying to power 4 chargers with it.

I was OK until I started trying charging at 2 C

I wish I would have bought this.

The 5amp supplies are 29.95 ea.

Man you got me thinkin now. For the cost of that supply from A Main i'll have to think about it. I would need one that will allow me to use banana plugs so when I go to the field i'll be able to put the alligator clips on to charge off the truck battery.

Decisions Decisions

RC heli mag had an article on how to "salvage" a power supply out of a PC.

Also, the clips go to your charger, right?

Yes the clips will go to the charger. The link you gave looked to me like the wire is pinched under a screw.
I cant tell be the pic very good, may be wrong.

I don't think i'll ever get a grasp on this charging crap

Older PC power supplies need no modification other than soldering banana plugs to them. And tend to be free!!!!!!!!
