I am buying a a123 6V battery for my Align 600n. I am running a 401 with a 9254 servo for the tail. The cyclic servos are 9252's. I will use a CC BEC to step down the volts to 5.1 for the 401/9254. Can the 9252 run at 6 volts—straight from the battery?

You will find this is a mixed debate. some say 4.8 as per futaba specs and some say thy have run them on 6v with no adverse effects.
Personally I would not do it.

you will be using more than 6 volts.a123's are 6.6 dead, and 7.2 charged.average voltage is more like 6.8-6.9 volts.i have used the 9252's at 5.8 volts with no problems but never tried them higher than that.

Agree with TechChris. Lots of us have used 9252's with REGULATED 6v. You're going to be hitting them with a good deal more than 6v and I think you will encounter some failures.

Like they said, don't run 4.8V rated servos unregulated on A123's. Anything rated for 6V should be fine on unregulated A123's.

I've been running 9252s unregulated on a 50 size heli for a full season with no issues. I use a Radio South 5.1V reg for the tail servo. I am comfortable with the 9252s at the 6.6 the A123s put out, you may not be.

While it's true they go to 7.2V on a full charge, they drop like a rock to 6.6 and stay there till they are about dead.

I would also like to add that without the inefficiency of a linear regulator, capacity usage is considerably less than a typical regulated system.
