i think some are running a scorpion motor on the 250 as well. You could go 4S... bwa-haa haa haa (evil laughter of more power)

so, i just ordered a 2208-34

does anyone know empirically where to get pinions for the thing? 250 is mod .4, but i'm getting conflicting info on the shaft size of the scorpion motor. is it 2.3mm or 3.17mm?

if it ain't broke, break it.

2.3mm., I was looking for pinions for that shaft and it's very limited.

You can use Shogun pinions but I have to find out if they're Mod 0.4. I'm also looking into 3mm. pinions because there's a 3mm. shaft for it also or have it ground down to 2.5mm and use the 250 pinion.

There is no "tailored" scorpion motor "yet" for this heli, stay tuned.

...Once upon a time there were Nitros, flybars and frequency pins...

I'm just wondering if the Heli will hold up with another 200Kv.

we'll see.

i just got my scorpion bolted up last night. waiting for day to break so i can try.

i misread the specs. it is a 3600kv motor. so, i geared down to 15t...should give the same headspeed +/- 50 RPM depending on motor effeciency as 16t on the stock motor.

wasn't a direct bolt on. but, nothing super hard that some careful work can't fix.

#1 had to trim off about 1cm from the motor shaft, or it hits the bottom front servo.

#2 had to bore out the motor screw holes on the alum. motor mount so the larger scorpion screws will fit

#3 had to bore out the motor shaft hole on the motor mount so my pinion would fit. the only 2.3mm shaft, mod 4 pinions i could find are shaped like stock trex 450 pinions with the wider tapered base. the base rubbed on the motor mount without creating a little breathing room.

#4 those pinions are not a press fit, either...you need to file a spot on the shaft and set the screw. incidentally, the set screw is right where the main gear wants to mesh. so...

#5 had to put spacer washers between the motor and the bottom of the motor mount to get the main gear to ride a little higher on the pinion (so it misses the set screw)

#6 changed out the bullet connectors on the ESC to match the ones pre-installed on the scorpion.

the easiest way to perform this surgery was to remove the front 4 screws on the bottom plate and swing it out of the way to completely remove the alum motor mount. of course this meant stripping 5 out of 6 of the super-loctited from the factory motor mount screws. so, i replaced them all :/

more info in a couple of hours when i can see outside.

if it ain't broke, break it.

it really was. i was just being thorough

no welding, fabricating, or purchasing of additional parts is considered 'slight' in my book.

if it ain't broke, break it.
