OK guys I have a problem that needs your input.my N9 has a carbon frame and a forward gyro mount (front of main) . have tried 2 different gyros with same results. tail kicks L&R in hover with no real control.1st gyro 611/9256 , 2nd is jr770/8900, tested with both on several occasions and got same problem. so next I changed gain from gear to gyro menu on 2 different channels and same. even in HH the tail kicks. looked for vibes and have none , linkage is smooth and free, tail grips and bearings are new and flawless.any ideas?

Check gear meshing and if clutch is warn or tuning of motor .You might not hear motor inconsistencies but could cause issues.

I stole it ,flew it and gave it back ;)

possible

i asked about this when i built my n9 and the response was to not run the gyro on the front mount due to the plastic flexing. While doing some setup, I did notice that the servo tray does flex quite a bit from the tail servo moving. I can see where this would cause some freaking out for the gyro. I would take the advice and move to the back. Please lets us know if that does solve your problem.

Interesting that you mentioned 2 different gyros and same result. I dont really think its the gyro as much as its your set up. Sounds like your gyro is acting on its own accord, meaning its not on the correct channel/rudder. Also you gave no description of radio used so no help will be forthcoming of any consequence. There are just to many variables and not enough information to help you. Stating that you have carbon frames means nothing.

radio JR x9303 /r7000..
3 8717
all carbon frame from HarryZ at heli4you.net, only comes with front gyro mount
jr770/8900g
611/9256
ys91sr well seasoned 5 gallons 30%cp
hb19

front servo tray is also CF and very rigid
I switched gyros due to the 611 was a used gyro that was lying around and installed the 770 wich was nib and thought this would cure the problem. then found that the start shaft was bent causing vibes so it got replaced. the heli is all new from the frames up.
here are some pics. this has been troubling and with your help I'm sure we will get er done. all replies are appreciated.
thanks

ok, so then the next thing is

bearing failure on the YS.

I have seen this first hand. if u cant get it tuned, i would look there next. does the tail kick when u spool up and fly, but go locked in when you auto? if so, its the motor

One more question, What type of mounting tape are you using to secure the gyro?

I didnt think of the engine bearing causing this much trouble. you hit on a good point re; throttle hold and auto. I will try to do that next outing. also I have another engine to swap with if needed.
have used JR supplied foam then ftaba foam with metal plate and zeal. worst of the bunch was the zeal.now is fitted with foam tape and plate.

Is it the stock tail assembly? If it is you may want to double check that you don't have an older set of tail thrust bearings. There were a run of bearing that had an over sized outer washer on the thrust bearing. The outer washer O.D. should measure 9.8 mm and not 10 mm. I doubt that you would get a set of these older ones but something to check.

Jeff

Yes, bad rear bearings will cause some strange issues.

To hover is divine, the alternative is rather PLANE.

closer look at pics

looked closer at the pics and the servo tray/gyro mount seem to be installed with bolts (similar to the stock tray) are you sure the tray is not moving at all when the tail servo moves? or any other servos for that matter.

also, the 611 sensor is in the rear in the pic. how was it flying at that time?

I relocated the 770 gyro up front where the 611 lcd is in the pic. the rear mount was fabbed out of some spare frame peices. the QX frame doesnt come with a rear gyro mount. that was the first test flight and at the time it had a bad vibe from the bent clutch start shaft.
the tail feels smooth and the thrust bearings were recent purchase.

KTM just got sold last week.06 450 exc with all CF and Ti goodies.it will be missed.

its fixed, bad thrust bearing in tail and the QX frame from , Heli4you.net is so stiff that it transmits more vibes to the forward mounted gyro. have since installed spartan gyro with tape and plate,
now she tracks and flies beautifull and at 10.2 lbs flying weight is like no synergy I have flown before. thanks everyone for the help.
