And you can regurgitate the party line all you want, and it still does not make you correct.
You could claim all you want that I spout party lines. But the fact you ignore any data and continue to parrot your party line makes it so you are in no way correct.

Now, care to debate the data? Or do you admit that all you have is party lines to fall back on? Cause if that's all you can/will do...I'll spend my time on some other topic.

I tried to bring debate. YOU brought the political soap box with comments like, "you have to do the right thing for the good of all.Corparate (sic) greed is a major factor in why we are in the finantial (sic) decline we are in"

Others brought a bunch of unsubstantiated opinions. Pointing that out is not a political soapbox. In fact, the only "political" comments I have made is that companies are not socialistic in nature and then my retorting rotating potatoes claim that I am spouting party lines.

You and others have still not touched the data I brought forth....Instead, you and they have brought up non-sequitur points like your "political soapbox" comment above.

Care to actually discuss the topic?

I have figured it out...I just keep hoping that every once in a while a good conversation comes out of the clutter.

Most of the time it seems the "I am just trolling like everyone else" comments come from folks that have strong opinions but can't back them up with anything more than anecdotal data. So when their opinions are challenged, they claim they really don't care (sour grapes) or they throw lame insults.

$1.31 here. Sure makes driving a truck easier on the pocket book! I can drive all week for less than what a tank use to cost me.

Then why did you mention:

Crappy cars?
"I also remember the crappy cars that resulted from it"

Speculators?
"The speculators that were driving up the price"

Record profits of oil companies?
"record profit. money left over after costs of production"
"but sometimes you have to do the right thing for the good of all.Corparate (sic) greed is a major factor in why we are in the finantial (sic) decline we are in"

And to be fair you did ask, "I am just wondering now that the gas prices have fallen and the cost of making it have not?"

I think the prices came down only because they are trying to help out the retailers with the Christmas shopping season. If all our extra money goes for gas, retailers are going to take a big hit.

Something interesting to research is the "Peak Oil" theory by Hubbert.

Basically back in the 50's he predicted when the extractable oil found would peak. He suggests it would peak in the early 2000's (I believe 2015 but memory is failing me).
Data suggests that he's correct and very close on the date. Industry experts predict 2020ish.
It took 100 years to use up half but it will not take near that long to use up the other half as our thirst for it grows.
We the planet are using about 85 million barrels per day and it's predicted that will rise to 110 million in the next 5 years with most of the increase coming from China and India.

The peak for "easily" found oil has passed already. There are no more large finds such as the fields in Saudi. Oil is getting harder to find and harder to extract.

Where is the long term plan to prepare our civilization for the eventual end of the supply?

Imagine life with $10 or even $20 gallon gas?
Will there be an oil war?
