Does anyone have a link too the history and Hierarchy of the Hirobo Helis? I think it would be interesting to see the different Heli's and the different upgrades that each brought to our hobby. Maybe list them in order of Hierarchy, or maybe just as they were release comparing each to a previous version. Just a thought, don't know if it has been done or not, but a search didn't reveal much.

I found a link to the GMP Cricket and there is a photo of a Hirobo "Ministar" if you scroll down the page..

I believe that GMP must have worked hand in hand with Hirobo until they had a falling out. The story is in the link below.

Not alot of info but its a start.

The only people who truly know where the edge lies, are those who have gone over.

This post might be related to this thread and /or might not, but I'm always curious as to what caused the demise of GMP helicopters. Back in the late 80s I've been seeing their advertisement on Model Airplane magazine and have always dreamed of owning a Cricket and the Cobra helicopter. To make the story short I didn't get to fulfill that dream. As a grew older and have a stable, good paying job I was getting ready on buying a GMP when I found out later on that they went belly up. Then I heard rumors and news about some bitterness between GMP and Hirobo. I'm curious as to what transpired between the two companies. Also I've heard that GMP copied some of Hirobo's design and name it their own. Now that business tactics is sneaky and un-ethical. Was that the cause or there's more to it than what's in the rumors / news?

Then I heard rumors and news about some bitterness between GMP and Hirobo. I'm curious as to what transpired GMP had a
falling out (Divorse) with Hirobo Japan, they had to rush out
and retool i.e. make dies, molds, & fixtures for all Hirobo
purchased parts (Very Expensive & time consuming)
This was happening when the Kyosho Concept 30 DX Heli was the
flavor of the month just like today with Align and the 600N

Well Guys it doesn't seem that there is much information as to all the different models and Head options that have been available (at least in one spot to compare). With that being said I am trying to make up a spread sheet of the different Models the head, tailbox and frame type they came with. I don't have the Info in front of me right now, but if you want to start throwing any information my way, I will include it in the spreadsheet and post for everyone to have. Also if there is any other information people would want to see on the spreadsheet let me know. Just gonna take a little time to do all the research!

I thought the R-50 was a Yamaha product. Is Hirobo building them for Yamaha, or was that division sold off?

I believe it was a joint effort- Hirobo with expertise on helicopter mechanics, Yamaha on the engine, marketing.
