If you're actually going to wheel it, I'd say go for the H2 if you like them! Most people get them and they never leave paved roads ... it's all about 'status'.

We have a guy in the local offroad club that runs an H3 and he's not afraid to take it anywhere. Someone's got some pics of one of the Jeep XJ's winching him out of a hole on one of the trail rides and all of the Jeepers wouldn't let him live it down. (Like none of the Jeeps got stuck in that hole! )

Then again, if you're never taking it offroad, you might as well trick it out like this:

^ that pic is hella funny! Those are what i call traction tires!
I want to wheel it. Way i figure, if it has 4wd then it needs some Nevada "pinstriping" down the paint to match. Camping last summer saw me collecting fire wood in my pickup on a motorcycle trail through the brush.

I know the pinstriping well! I've got plenty of it on both my Jeep (pic I posted back on the first page) and my truck ... and the truck is 2WD.

Here's a couple more shots of the "Farmer's Hummer" ...

P.S. I probably shouldn't mention that the above Hummer is not in service in the US.

My fellow heligogues, I'm going to make an unpopular choice. I'm going to agree with reinhpe.

Given current the state of affairs, choosing to continue living in a way that directly reflects OUR - yes, yours and mine, the historically and synonymously American "glutinous mentality of consumption" is a vote to continue living the blissful ignorance that has clearly brought us to where we are today. Mark my words, Hummer will soon go the way of the dinosaurs - as well it should. GM may well be on the same path along with Ford and Chrysler. I certainly hope not, but there is a solid argument for letting them burn. And that is squarely seated in the truth that reckless abandon and lack of foresight and solid leadership will inevitably result in disaster. Here we are my friends right in the middle of an economic train wreck with long term, global implications. It remains yet to be seen when, how, and indeed IF we will recover some semblance of our former glory.

It took 4.5 billion years for the first billion people to inhabit the earth, less than a hundred years to get to 6.7 billion today and it is estimated that in 30 years earth's population will reach 9 billion. Our children and grandchildren will bear the burden of our choices and those of our predecessors. If it is not we that will turn the course of human future, then who is it?

WE ARE THE ONES WE'VE BEEN WAITING FOR!

Reduce, reuse, recycle. Support local supply chains and clean energy initiatives. Simply put, be considerate.

H1 over H2

See the difference:

Watch at YouTube

For the one who have a problem with mileage, one of my old customers had a H1 Alpha and with a few mods was getting 17MPH, thats better then my Jeep TJ wrangler with a 2.5 4Cyl!

You should have gotten the 6 cyl ... my Jeep TJ with the V6 goes way faster than that!

I would have guessed that most of the Hummers could, too.

I gotta defend the auto guys here. They dont need to lead us. They are lead by consumers and demand. When the H1 was introduced, it was by popular demand for the "military like" suv. It was proven to big for the average consumer and viola the h2 was born and now h3.

There are plenty of other vehicles that i have looked at that are not an suv that have simular or worse mpg ratings. Like i said before, it will be an improvement over my old pickup, which i plan to sell to the local wrecking yard for parts. So i guess it will be recycled.

yes, we need to recycle more of the stuff that cannot be decomposed quickly in the landfill. I was looking more in this thread as things like i have one and it stinks or is great because....

Thanks for the replys, please keep'em coming!

ps--I plan on putting an HHO system on with some mods and chip reprogramming. But that is another thread...

It's that attitude that discourages people from trying or beginning. It is an obstacle to progress. In the court of public opinion perception is everything.

I just recently sold an 06 hummer h3. I absolutely loved it. Great size and value for the money. The big misconception that everybody had was that is sucked a bunch of gas money. That was not the case. General driving for me I averaged about 17-18mpg. That is higher than your standard envoys or explorers. Im not sure how the H2 would do though. I would say go for it!!!

It's a complex, costly, glow powered anti-gravity machine!

This is not a court and you are not the judge. Go hug a tree in WA or blow up some power lines or burn a hummer dealership. The world's problems are much bigger than your CO2 fantasy. Do us a favor, save the planet by turning off your own lights, your won heat, and riding your own bicycle to work in the Washington rain.

Despite living in the UK - I want an H1, especially the "fastback" military one with the sloping rear hatch.

H1 has portal axles, H2 does not. Who cares if I can only do around 75 MPH flatout? Anything designed to stay with an Abrams tank platoon is fine by me

Besides, with an H1 I'd get the local H2 to move over! LOL

Tach.

Guess i am going to pass on the h2 this year. The job just isnt stable, as the city i work for is not bringing in the $ as expected. I am taking advantage though of the work furlough and giving up a days pay each week. They still pay the insurance and everything like i worked 40, and right now they say i can change back if i need to, or they can change me back if they want to. Better to have a 32 hour week job than none at all I say.

Isnt all that bad, yeah i give up a bunch o cash, but i do gain a day of flying and being with the kid during the summer, who couldn't love 3 day weekends all the time!
