I just did my first rebuild on one of my YS 50's, and after getting it back together the engine doesn't have the "pop" or compression like my other engines have had. I replaced the piston and liner, ring, front and rear bearings, gaskets and put on a new head. I was careful to set the ring in the groove and align it with the pin at 7 o'clock in the sleeve. The motor turns over nice but isn't as tight as my other motors. Does my ring just need to seat or do I have some issues?
I seem to remember that YS 50's are loose like that and tighten up with temperature and time. Thoughts?
Thanks,
Brent

You can't really tell by hand, the ring depends on the combustion to seal the ring. You also need to wear the ring to the cylinder liner.

Noted the same on my YS50 when it was brand new. It seems that things get tighter when it heats.

another question reguarding rebuild

what method are you using to remove the liner?

Heat, oven or torch?
How do you push the sleeve out?

Thanks
