Okay, I had time to run one tank of fuel thru the 26cc Bat today. I was just hovering around setting up and tweeking all the throttle/pitch curves/ hold/gyro....
Man , this is realy an IMPRESSIVE heli. On the first start of the motor I was hovering the heli so I had most of the set-up pretty much close ...This heli is very stable , yet very nimble is my first impression. I was realy suprised at how controlable it was right off the "Bat".. I had to add some "Expo" to the tail to slow it down, very touchy at first ,but that is the way I like it .
I have a small vibration in the tail, nothing major, that I need to track down. As a matter of fact , I did`nt balance the tail prior to the first flight. So that is on my list of to-dos.
The Zenoah 26cc EI fired right up and ran pretty smooth, it is realy rich in the low-end so I need to do a little tweeking there. But MAN!!!!! This realy is a powerful motor. I know that alot of the power is from the Zimmerman Tuned Pipe that I got from Irwin at Quick World Wide. Thank you Irwin for hooking me up with an AWSOME heli and an awsome deal I might add.And thank you Jon at QWW also for all the valuable information, you guys have realy made this heli purchase a great experiance. Keep up the good work!!!

Well done Jimbo! Just a little bigger than the EP8.
What headspeed and fuel/oil ratio are you running for break-in?

Thanks guys. 5oz to one gallon amzoil. That is what Irwin and Jon at QWW told me to use for the break-in.
i`m still trying to get used to the gas engine and the throttle/pitch curves , getting the propper engine RPM and pitch in the blades is new to me.
You are so right kosta, way way different than the EP8....

I just got to get the canopy mounted now..

smallplanes don`t mount the electronic ignition under the tank like I had mine in the pic. That is just a fire waiting to happen. I had a small fuel leak from my fuel hoses and it all went right on the EI. I am going to mount it up front somewhere.

Thanks Jimbo, I have not mounted mine yet as i still have a little bit to go before that.

What is the name on the Amsoil bottle(or type of oil)? I use the saber pro syntec in my gas planes but if i have to i will use something else. I just want the motor to run good what ever oil that might be?

Did the gas on the EI hurt it? Will you be able to test it today? What swash type did you use in your TX?

Thanks for the help

I`m not exactly sure of the Amsoil type, it is a friends of mine. He has vast experiance on gas planes and helis. Chuck Nowell is his name , thanks Chuck for all your help, awsome dude.
He thought that 5oz per gallon was kind of much , but I think the extra lubrication on break-in is good insurance.
The gas on the EI did`nt hurt it none. I think the tubing that came with the kit is too small. The gas tubing we used was way bigger. That is where the leak came from; during filling it leaked out .
The swash type you use on the Bat 26cc is 120* degree , 3 servo.

That's great!

The lower the temp the better ...check the manifold where the header mounts. That should be the hottest spot....Irwin

Did your run in do good Jimbo? It sounds like it did. Are you going to fly soon?

Thanks

What did you have to do to get the canopy mounted?

Quite a cut to clear the muffler header....

Yup , did have to do some cutting to get it around the tuned pipe. If you want the extra power you just got to sacrifice a little. Actualy , the canopy fits pretty good ; considering what all it has to cover.

Canopy looks great,do you have any close up pics of the mounting studs? I've been a little under the wheather lately so i've not really got anywhere on my build. Hope to get hard and heavy back in it soon.

Thanks for posting your pics
