So...they need a fix for their fix?

I was waiting for an update but maybe I should go with the Gaui? anyone tried both?

the new hub works great ,it just needs a little more maintenance, that's all, i use some grease between the hub and the blade grip, that works good, the tail holds very good with the jr290 and the stock gyro

Hi
I understand Bart absolutly.Come on guys this is not the first heli Align is building. If it would be I would understand some issues but come on, hello, the tail is just crap, period! The ballinks are to tight, now they come up with a diffrent canopy etc etc. Whats the point? Why do these things fly sooo nicely on the videos you see? And not in reality, are we to stupid to build them or what!?I am sorry to say but Gaui did a far better job on the 200 V2, alot better, finish is super , ballinks just snap on and actually work and the tails all work, all for a competitiv price. Don t get me wrong I also have or had Align helis but after 4 Years now I am getting a bit tierd of V1, V2, V3 blabla, ist there a heli that comes out and actually works??Just think for a moment 800 bucks in a 250 size Heli!! and it does not fly! For 800 bucks you can get a 50 size Nitro that flies!Thats a reason I bought the Gaui, why because I can and thank god there are diffrent options out there now.

Regards Pete

I'm kind of bummed also. My tale is crap and I just got it the other week. Figured the new tail would be in it but not. So now I have $700 in a heli just sitting. I've emailed them and haven't heard back about the new parts being sent to me.

Quick test of your Trex 250 Tail (Thanks to RR Member "JimmyC" )

Step One... Remove your main blades and undo the ball link on the tail servo

Step Two... Turn your Transmitter on and plug in battery and power up your Trex 250

Step Three... Hold your Trex 250 in your hand and spin up the heli to half throttle and safely place your transmitter down

Step Four... While Heli is spun up, with your free hand, push and pull the tail push rod (at servo end) and see if there is excessive binding when trying to move tail slider to both end points.

If it binds up, or very hard to reach end points, you need to get the new hub or follow Bert's modification suggestions

huh...

Been out of the heli game for awhile now... Was actually thinking about coming back in with the 250. (always had and flown a 450SE and been flying since 1yr after Align came out with the TREX400 a good little while ago, but got into fast elec RC boats for a stint, then RC rockcrawlers, now back to Helis, maybe - always in phases for me).

Of course I know better than to just "take the plunge" after dealing with so many trex400 and 450 issues and repairs and fixes. I was tempted though, it looks like a fantastic little heli, and i've always been partial to the small electric helis. (big birds scare the pooh pooh out of me while flying, just based on repair costs).

Glad i checked into this on RR -- looks to me like Align hasn't changed much since their move over from Vaccuum Cleaners to RC Heli's. I'm honestly bummed to see such tail issues being discussed on this little bird. I would fully have expected they learned some lessons about bird-manufacturing and got a bird right for once before moving to market, they've been making these birds for what, 6-7yrs now? How in the heck do you FUBAR yet another tail system on a bird that's all but a smaller version of the 450 -- HECK the original 400 back in the day was initially PLAGUED with a tail that spun WAY to fast and gashed up a few folks as the tail blew apart and went flying thru the air violently - remember those days? Yet again I was salivating after watching Szbao's vid on YouTube flying this little thing like a whacked-out miniature alien spaceship gone nutty. (when don't you salivate after watching that guy fly any bird?).

For the $hundreds$, it would be nice to just buy a little bird and have it function correctly, out of the box. I guess that's asking too much from a company that salivates every time it hears the cash register go "cha-ching" after they release a new bird.

It seems clear to me people are STILL buying Align products despite the production issues - why should Align be motivated to correct issues PRIOR to release to the public, if they aren't punished in terms of shear sales for the errors. No consequences for them = no action from them, its that simple.

All that said, I suppose I'll wait another 6months for the beta's to iron out the issues and then buy the bird once more issues are ironed out and corrected. Align has ALWAYS BEEN and will ALWAYS BE, a trial & error company conducting R&D at the expense of its consumers. Is that right or wrong, heck i don't really know anymore - but I stopped being their guinea pig over a year ago.

Time to boot RF3.5 back up...... its gonna be a cold winter. Take care all

Funny thing - all this said I still love my TREX 450SE and think its the neatest thing since toilet paper. Its Sorta like a parents love for their child -- unconditional.

Good Day: crashed thx to dumb thumbs. Bad Day: crashed mechanical malfunction. Every Day: CRASH :)

thanks Turkana...

Here's to hoping your adoptee doesn't become a juvinile delinquent like our little Trex counterparts. If it starts with G, ends in I-200, and has AU in the middle.... from what I've read so far hopefully it will be giving you hours of flying enjoyment; albeit 450SE may get a tad jealous- just remember to still get 'er out and crash her into the dirt every once in while, to spread the love.

Only since early '05...I remember b/c the first 400 Rex came out during the spring of my Sr. year of College...

These little helis are not tolerant of any tolerance issues....that extra thou of an inch is a significant % of binding compared to the same tolerance in a big bird.

I somewhat expect to have to do some tweaking, etc...to a small bird to get it to fly well.

YMMV
