After you switched the servo type, did you hit "store to gyro"?

Your endpoints seem within the good range.

If you need any assistance w/setup on that AP2000i, you can PM me directly.

Hi Peter your endpoints are reasonable..

You can check the actual Gyro Gain % you are running via the lead..see below

• Download and run the latest version of the PC software.
• Power on the helicopter/gyro and your transmitter.
• Right click anywhere on the top bar of the PC software and from the drop down list click on "Start Diagnostics".
• Over the large Spartan RC logo will appear a line of gray text which shows the sensor, rudder and gain signals read by the ds760's microcomputer. The actual operating gain is displayed as a % at the right hand side.
• To exit diagnostics mode right click on the top window bar and select "Stop diagnostics".

Doing this will confirm the actual figure the Gyro is seeing.

You should be getting a reasonable tail with those settings. It might be worth going shorter still on the servo horn to see if this helps at all..I'm guessing but think the Endpoints will be around 120 each way. Providing your not over travelling It would be worth a quick try.

I think it's time to go through the machine bit by bit..back to Basics. The tail Grip bearings are they in good condition as there is no thrust race on a Raptor Tail..
No binding, excessive slop, broken gear set/bad servo..even a slack boom, loose boom stay, poor boom clamp.. Any one of these will severly reduce the Gyro gain attainable. X- shorting of wiring from and Ignition since its a petrol.

Just do it systematically..that should find the problem.

No but I've seen the write to gyro bit now, I thought the gyro would tell me what servo I was running
Cheers
"Start Diagnostics".
Thanks for that info, did I miss that in the instructions?

I’m pretty sure about the Heli setup as I’ve gone through it a few times but there are two points I need to check, one is the tail blade bearings, they feel all right but I haven’t removed them in a long time so I will just replace them, secondly I left the gyro cable loose for the first 2” like the instructions recommend but I covered it in shrink and it might be a bit stiff.

Thanks again for all your input guys

That would potentially allow vibes getting right to the gyro.

In that case I will remove it and try it first.

2000i Flash

This is a bit off topic but I'm not getting any response on another thread I started so I will try here.

I've installed the 2000i and all is working fine apart from the flash lead, it works with the 760 but it won’t work on xp or vista with the 2000i, I've set the 2000i to loader then plug the usb flash lead in and start the program but I only get com2 and no usb ports showing, when I search for the port it can’t find it, any idea’s.

The unit reads ser 3243, Ver 1.11 and Ldr V 1.0.

Your AP2000i is fully updated. V1.11 is the latest version.

fix it, i answered this in the thread you closed before.

an adjustment via device manager to show as a com port is required. You just tick the VCP box, unplug, plug, done. this can be found in the Spartan USB cable in device manager, right click, properties, advanced and tick VCP.

cheers

Yes but I would still like to sort the flash lead out for next time.

Sorry I hadn’t noticed, I've gone through Device manager but I can’t find anything related to Spartan or a VCP box.

With the cable connected, it does not show on the device manager? Have you used this cable before? Drivers installed?

Thanks Autoeject

Now I get it, I was looking under ports but of course it’s under Bus controllers, should work fine now.

I wonder can you help me with one more thing, I've setup the DX7 for the Two Switch setup for the gain using the gear switch and Aux2, the 760 is operated from the gear switch also so I need to set it for H/H in both positions, do I change the TX setting or the gyro.

If you're going to use the gear channel to control the AP2000i, you'll want to move your gyro gain lead over to slot #4 on the AP2000i. If you've got your gyro working the way you like, connect to the config. software. Place the mouse anywhere in the blue bar at the top of the window and right-click the mouse. An option box will popup. Hit Start Diagnostics. You can then see the current gyro gain (not necessarily the same as tx %). Now, plug your gyro into slot #4 and adjust TRM4 until the gain reading is returned to what it was before. You'll now have a channel freed up on your tx/rx.

Obviously, you won't be able to have remote gyro gain switching but who wants that anyhow.

Hi Mark

I’ve followed your instructions and this is where I’m at now, before moving the gyro pin the gain reading on the config screen was 27 and now it’s in servo 4 slot it’s reading 28 and that’s the nearest I can get because it jumps a few digits’ each time I press it, the LCD reading on TRM4 is 14 with the gyro in H/H, does this sound about right.

Cheers
Peter

Yes. The step value in the AP2000i is not fine enough to go one % point at a time in the gyro. However, that sounds like you've got it very close. Should do you fine.
