I installed a remote glow on the Hawk last night. I didn't like the spring loaded plug attachment so I used an alligator clip instead. I also made a bracket for it out of and old parkflier LG strut. This gives me a double ground to the engine(I like redundancy) and it's pretty much out of sight.

AHhhh remove the ground wire its a waste. Aluminum is a better conductor than copper. Just more expensive and not practical to use for wire cause it crushes in a connector and comes loose. Caused a lot of house fires in the 60's.

Oh and the wires they use on a remote igniter just plain suck!!!

I too use the roach clip I mean alligator clip!!!

Thats what came with mine and works great but the wire became weak and brittle and was causing me really weak hard starts. So I thought it was a motor problem.

I kept the uhm alligator plug and the glow end and soldered a quality 12 gauge automotive grade wire to mine.

Repaired what I could with my mishap on the 500. Need one part to finish.

Pulled that motorized tail (DDVP) out of the flasher 450 and it's ready to test fly before I sell it to someone.

Stripped all the electronics out of the EDF jet.

Not Bad, it should be very visable in the air, helping with orientation.

Melnic,

Yeah I did reloctite, not the head yet.

The screws were cheap and strippy on this one, so I am kind of afraid to mess with the head. The screws on the frame were very well secured, and half stripped (Phillips!). I had the good screws from my exi squadron, so I rebuilt the frame with those.

With the paint I am continuing my theme of making the heli both visible and dangerous looking.

Anyone,
I have an idea for Mythbusters and I am hoping to make a short video, if any of you can think of Heli related myths they should do (that they haven't allready), PM me. I don't want to create a thread full of arguments. Mythbusters=arguing

BTW, I found that I was going at it the hard way on putting the unbrella bearings back on. Found video on HeliFreak and it was back in about 2 minutes or less.
I can say the torque tube feels like less resistance than with the Belt for sure.

But I tell ya, The Align shafts are TOO hard. He busted his blades and chipped a Metal gear servo ($35 blades and $17 for a replacement gearset). Niether shaft bent. What's wrong with that picture?

I'm giving my buddy a $10 pair of the 3D Pro CF blades to fly with.

I am finishing up the last of the Tx setup for the Hawk. I think this bird is finally ready to fire up If the weather ever gets reasonable I will do some test hovers and start the fine tuning.

I just got done packing up. I had to get the weights off my 450's flybar, made sure everything worded. I did that by powering up in my liveingroom and checked tracking, and just everything you need to do before a flight. well time to go get some sleep before leaveing tomrrow. I am cant wait!

Kids these days.

Guess its to late to let spencer know that he aint gonna have any kind of room like he is used to afraid he will be dissapointed. Usually heli pilots are crowded at one end about 10 ft apart 20-30ft out and straight up thats your flying field for helis. The planes get the whole gym after all it is Great Planes E-fest. I will be leaving soon the schedule at GPE-fest.com shows the events dont start till 4pm.
