I worked on my Belt CP. Did some stuff to bring it back to stock condition. I took out the CF blades and put wood blades back into it. Will fly tomorrow.

If this looks familiar, I also posted the same thing at RCG.

After installing the XHeli metal head/tail upgrade combo there was instantly a high speed vibration in the tail. So bad it vibrated the loctited screws out of the vertical stab and it ended up flopping loose while I landed. I didn't fly it like this; I landed within a few seconds.

I looked over everything. The belt was kinda tight, as I was expecting some stretch. Loosened the belt - better. Still bad vibes. Took off the head to see if it was causing the vibes - nope. Tail blades? Nope. Removed the hub and slider and spun it up - tail shaft straight; minimal vibration.

I put the old slider on the new ass'y (luckily the molded control ball fit the new L-bracket) and attached an old TREX tail hub. No additional vibration. Tail blades back on - no additional vibrations.

So, apparently my CNC tail hub was a bit out-of-balance. Still a tiny bit of vibration that wasn't there before the upgrade. May be the belt. I've just been too lazy to go through the chore of swapping belts, but I probably will eventually just so I'll know.

Still, at $40 for the combo, an exceptional value.

Yes I did.

- Balanced and tuned tail rotor for G5. Waiting for unordered parts for heli.
- Checked balance for tail rotor for HBK - seems spot on
- Tuned 4#3A/B.
- balanced blades
- blades tracking
- made flybar moving free
- cleaned and oiled
- repair of broken parts, while fixing previous stuff
Now 4#3 is hands free hovering (not for long time for sure) and flies just awesome. A bit of tail drift during flight, but that's not a problem at all, because it is possible to get out of sticks and trim tail couple of times in flight.
Fixing and tuning 4#3 is way more challenging, then any other stuff, except I think 4G3 and 4G6, but I do not have them.

Heli KV, what did you oil on the 4#3b?

I did musical parts today and xfered a gyro and tail servo from one heli to another.

Mine is mix of 4#3B with plastic head - a bit lighter. I keep a metal swash, because I forgot to change it and metal grips in order to make blades tracking (I have no idea how to make tracking with plastic grips)

Oiling: all bearings: two on tail, two on main shaft, 1 in swash and all bushings on head: central hub & flybar and central hub and grips. And a bit on swash ball. I oil, then spool, then remove mess created around, extremely from ball links, otherwise they start to stick. I changed main bearings today, but old ones were pretty good and usable after a long fly time and many crashes. I use triflow. Earlier, I sprayed WD-40 inside a motor. I stopped this practice, because more mess then help. Motor is cheap and it holds for relatively long time for $5. When it is done, I spray it with WD-40, wrap in paper and put in plastic bag. After a while, it is usable again for some time.

Pretty nice and stable bird actually, except tail, but that's all motoized tail problems. After a while you get used to it.

Pushed myself and installed plastic swash on 4#3B. Now heli is lighter, which is a key there. Again leveled swashplate. Seems it is Ok now.

There are 2 choices in tail motors.

I think the high performance is better.

Thanks Mike for motors!

After today crash, I glued back AR, waited and kept flying. Retrimming was required. Also found two pig tails for cellpro 4s charger and for 1S 400mAh lipo. Soldered them together and now I have two chargers for charging my small 1S batteries. Funny to look at Cellpro, when it says that it balances 1S.

Replaced flybar cage on 4#3. It was necessary to remove spindel for this. Those who own 4#3, take a look at tiny size of c-clip and o-rings, which are required to remove and insert after. I consider myself now very ... I do not know the word, but I did not think I could do this, due to it's size. More over, I did it twice, because first time I inserted cage upside down.

Worked on my EXI 250.

Just had time to look it over, plan out the installation and install servos and tie wrap the wires down.

I already had much of what needs to go into the kit.
Kit is $99
I already have 2 800mAh 3S packs (less than $8 from hobby city)
Takes 9g servos.

I put in the 9g servos last night. Just had to remove the maingear and shaft to acess the nuts on the inside.

Came w/ plastic blades like my Gaui did but I got FG and CF 205mm blades for it already.

Just like the EP100, the box it comes with has a handle so I can use it for storage and transport.

Just did some work during lunch.
I have a weird vibration issue in one EXI 450.
It was fine until the other day when I was testing blades. Then it was shaking. It's not the blades, they are balanced really well. 3 different sets of blades all shake and if I take those blades to another 450, they don't vibrate and are actually quite smooth and tracked well.

Last night I pulled the head off and rolled the spindle and mainshaft on glass and they were not bent. I also changed the dampers (black Align) to red trueblood dampers. Vibration is still there. Vibration is evident on spool up but really kicks in at full rpm (I guess 2800-3000).

Measuring the flybar, it looks even.

I guess I'll try head swapping next to see if its in the head or somewhere else.

On that other 450 that's working well, I just put the GY401 in it that was pulled from my 500. Now at least I have 1 of the two flying and holding really well.

The Novus FP (4#3) tail was not holding.

The plastic shaft the tail blade is on wore out.

I removed the shaft from an old tail motor and installed it.

Works great!

So far I have been thru 3 of them in the last 6 months.

What appears to be happening is that the brush springs are not holding up to the current load and deforming.

The last one to give up had a resistance value of 1700 ohms. After I took it apart and bent the springs back into position the resistance went back down to 1 ohm and was usable again. Uh...... sort of..
