I've watched your how to start video before but didn't really pay much attention to it because I don't have any problems starting my Spectra. But now I watched it again and notice that your starter cord comes out at a different angle than mine. When mine pull starter is installed it points out mostly towards the rear but slightly to the right. I start my Spectra from the right side. I also noticed that you said when you istall the starter turn it counter clockwise. I couldn't quite tell but the way it looked like your hand was turning clockwise if you were to flip the helicoper upside down and look at the starter. What way are you turning the starter if you were to look at it from the bottom?
If I look at mine from the bottom while istalling my starter I turn it counterclockwise. I cant even install my pull starter with the cord comming out in the direction that you have yours because it hits the motor mount bolts that hang down through the frame.
I am wondering why mine is like this? Is it posible that I've had my carbon plate with the slots for the starter to enguage upside down? I've had problems with one of the bolts on the pull starter hitting the red pickup coil.

Its possible its not built right on your end

While I don't have my heli in front of me and I haven't "studied" your situation 100% in my head, its possible that you have something not built right. If you look through the starter holes from the bottom up, do you see key holes for the starter to enguage in or are some of them blocked by the motor red coil? If they are blocked then you probably installed the plate inbetween the motor and the bottom plate incorrectly.

Come to think of it, when I said counterclockwise in the video I meant when you're kneeling on top of the heli looking at it from the top down. If you inverted the heli and looked at the starter from the bottom, it would be clockwise.

To give more clearance for the starter, I install the 6 motor bolts from the bottom up with the nuts on the top not bottom -- this way the screw head gives the least profile from the bottom where it matters.

I'm willing to bet your assembly is not 100% correct as your starter locks in the other direction.

Hi Toaster

I don`t know if this pic can be of any help,
you can see that my "keyhole plate" cleares the
coil fine. (the hole is the back one, on the right,
topend/sparkplug facing the back of the heli)

Regards Bo

I must have it upside down since I seem to have to turn mine the other direction to lock it onto the heli. I think I'll just leave it for now since I am used to starting it like this. I remember when I first started pull starting my spectra I thought it was very awkward and didn't like the direction the pull cord faced.
