Hi Folks,

I've been out of RC for a while and have just jumped back in. I dusted off my Futaba 8UHP for my new heli, picked up new battery packs and started setting up my new machine, but my throttle stick seems to be reversed as far as the transmitter itself is concerned. It's like the transmitter stick has been reversed wired inside the radio, but the sticks and trims aren't easy to reverse like the old Conquest and Gold boxes were. It was working the right direction when I quit flying years ago, so I don't want to go there unless I have to. I can't imagine what could have happened to flip the logic on that stick. Reversing the channel only reverses the transmitted output, not the logic. All 8 aircraft whether HELI or ACRO are this way. This also means that by default, all mixing, throttle hold, and throttle cut are all backwards and the throttle idle trim only works at full throttle position. With the stick all the way down, it shows 100% throttle and #5 on the curves, and the throttle idle trim doesn't work. Conversely, it shows 0% throttle with #1 on the curves when the stick is all the way up and the idle trim works.

When hitting the throttle cut switch, it jumps to full throttle. Since throttle cut only allows +30% travel, there isn't enough programming travel to make it work, aside from the fact that it can be activated in flight.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Kimberly

If I am remembering correctly, You will need to push and hold a key on the TX while turning the power switch on. I can't remember which one but if someone doesn't tell you by morning, I'll go experiment with mine in the morning when I get home.

from futaba website 8U FAQ:

My throttle trim, throttle hold, or throttle curve functions seem to be working backward. For example, my trim only affects the high end not the low end. What's wrong?
Throttle reverse is a specialized function for very unique, special setups. It sounds like it is accidentally active in your radio. Turn the transmitter off and while holding down the 2 left most keys, turn the TX on. The STICK MODE screen should come up. Cursor up to the next screen, which says throttle rev. If it is norm make it REV, if it is REV make it norm. Turn the TX off and back on. Be prepared to reverse the direction of your throttle servo in the regular servo reverse screen and things should now operate normally.

compliments from another old school 8U user!
