I'm pretty pissed, I have been a loyal Align customer for years, 450 SE, 2 600N's and now a 700N. This is the second time I have needed to send something in. It's not that big of a deal as it is only a 2in1 that went bad but really that's not the point. Frank answered my first e-mail requesting the receipt which was sent and then three additional e-mails asking for an RMA number, never a response three weeks later.

I have spent well more time than it is worth with this stupid 45.00 part so I responded with my last e-mail to Frank in that respect, again no response from him or Andy.

So, if you are going to sell something and provide a warranty, BACK IT UP.

id call them. i had a muffler break a piece off inside that i sent back to Assurance. after 2 months of not hearing anyhting, i called them. Frank said they recieved it, but had not sent out a new one. I live in Canada, and they required a bit more for shipping, and thats why. not a big deal, but it would have been nice to get a call or email a month sooner...

Yeah, emailing them seems to be a hopeless case. Keep calling them on the phone until the point of annoyance, and you should get your product. The reliability is disappointing for sure.

Is Assurance actually part of Align, or are they just the major distributor of Align in the US?

Far as I'm aware, they are a distributor, but do have close ties with Align.

Sounds to me like most of the problems you guys have with Align customer service springs from a $hitty distributor, not Align itself.. In NZ our distributor deals direct with the Taiwan factory and we get excellent customer service from him and the Align factory.

It does not matter. Align or Assurance. They have to please the customer.
It is like telling me that The Ford Dealer, here in CA doesn't have any thing to do with Ford in Detroit.
But some times is the price that you pay for something cheaper.

The whole Ford dealer analogy is incorrect. You purchase your product from the Ford dealer. As a consumer, we cannot purchase anything from Assurance.

It turns out the fuel tank for my brand new 700N has an unintended hole in it, just by the base of the air pressure nipple. I can make it mostly airtight by squeezing the fuel line extra hard down, but it is not a long term solution.

So I called Assurance, hoping they would just send me a new fuel tank, but no, I had to get an RMA number, and return the damaged one, before I could get a new. Now would I rather try to fix the damaged one to keep flying, or wait two weeks for the return/replacement?...

I think cutting off the plastic nipple, make a clean hole, and install a metal nipple with a rubber washer is the best solution..

Karl.

The return program seems to be robotic, not considering the customer's large inconvenience with such a low cost item. They need to understand something as essential as a gass tank yet inexpensive should be treated expeditiously so the hobbyist keeps flying, not waiting 2 weeks. That is in addition to the hobbyist paying shipping on a product that will be thrown in the trash can when it arrives at the destination.

THINK!

I hate to say it but this is business as usual with Assurance. Go back to last summer and read some of the initial issues with the 600n. They knew the fans were warped but still made the customer send it back. The kicker is they don't just send you a new one. They have to "evaluate" it first and then send a replacement. In the end it's usually cheaper just to buy a new one which is exactly what they hope you will do.

Buy from your LHS. Mine takes care of me on any issues. Had an Align 2 into 1 go bad, they replaced it for me and dealt with Assurance.

As for the Trex 9000.. The way Align is cranking stuff out it is just a matter of time

Emailing assurance rc is hopeless. Call them up, but expect a while to get a new 2 in 1.

Well, I sent Frank and Andy this link after I put it up last night and needless to say I received an RMA# and address from him this morning. Just took a little kick in the pants is all, thanks Runryder!
