This has nothing with the RR Memebr HomerSimpson and is only meant for a little humor.

What the most Homer thing you've done to your heli.

My most recent was installing the Main Mast Retaining Ring between the top and middle bearing blocks. This allowed the top bearing to slide out of place resulting in a bent main shaft. It took two main shafts, spindle and tail boom for me to find the problem.

DOH !!!

It's not really a contest.

Credit to tchavei for the Homer Simpson Heli Contest idea.
Thanks Tony.

I started my heli today without turning on the receiver. Fortunately, the idle was low.

Man, I miss the eighties.

Flipped out of Throttle Hold, without setting the Idle Up Switch to Normal mode...resulted in a roll over of my Caliber 90 and some scuffs on my Scott Gray 720s

Did nearly the same thing as Altec a couple days ago. Got distracted and turned my radio off before unpluging the ol' Rex. I was fortunate that nothing happened.

Oh yeah, couple days before that I forgot to swith to normal mode before landing my CP Pro. Not so lucky on that one though. New blades, spindle, flybar, and mainshaft for that one.

I forgot to put my antenna up on my radio when I was flying 72mhz. I crashed my new 50 with only 6 flights on it. It landed on the pipe side bending the muffler and broke the engine case along with the other usual broken pieces

A while back on one of my 50s I forgot the screw that holds the servo horn on. Two servos on a ccpm swash do not fly well and I would advise against trying it. Luckly I just was in a low hover and only took the blades

For those that have flown the old mechanical gyros....

I once took off after forgetting to turn the gyro on.

Now for my "HOMER SIMPSON"

After a great flight I landed and took a break, now it was time to

dumbest moment ever for me....

back in 2004, I rebuilt my x-cell 99se (from a complete parts kit effectively) in one evening. For those who have built those heli's, they fly great but they have more parts than there are bricks in the great wall. so I am all ready to go, our group is out flying, so a couple of us walk out with my SE (since we usually fly one at a time and hassle whoever is flying when we don't). I start to spool up and it jumps up and then down. No damage or anything but it freaked me out a bit... we all stared at it for 5-10 minutes before someone walked up and said something like "dude, one of your blades is on backwards"

I don't think I will ever live that one down.

I once installed a set of V paddles backwards. I thought it flew squirrely but I didn't notice the problem until I had walked away and came back to the heli after a break.

Talk about homer heres one for ya, im still relatively new at this but i have learned alot since the time i couldnt figure out y my reciever kept "browning out" but after three crashes one of them into an irrigation ditch full of water, it turned out the end point of my collective servo was set WAY to high causing total failure of the system. One hell of an expensive lesson, not to mention the confidence factor being shot to h@##.

Well my Homer Simpson moment in RC helis was when i started my helicopter up in the wrong model in my radio (I had it set to "airplane" when I was flying Phoenix.) Luckily I always start with a hand on one blade and I immediately ripped off the fuel line (forget trying to find out why it's doing it and cut the life from it first!)

Yeah pretty dumb of me.

Remember when flying inverted that down is up and up is EXPENSIVE!
