I heard about this servo and wanted to know if anyone was using it? Is it even out? Anyway, the specs are 4.8v-.08sec ad 60 degrees, and 13oz of torque. Replacement for the 9257 on a 450?

Isn't that just the MG version of the DS285 cyclic servo? I guess you could use it as a tail servo but it doesn't really have enough torque.

No thats the DS285mg or they have the DS287mg. Do I really need that much torque on the tail?

I can run it on 6 volts and that will give me 16oz of torque and a speed of .07sec.

Let's put it this way, the 9650 has 60 oz of torque. Thats almost 4 times the output of that servo. It is not meant for the tail.

Any JR Gyro with a G at the end of it is designed to be used on a Gyro and therefore is suitable for a tail servo as long as you stick within its recommended use.

Awesome, thanks. But is 16oz of torque ok for my 450 though?

It won't work anywhere near as well as the 9257. Just buy another one. It's only like $20 more than that and it's proven. You know you'll be disappointed. Plain and simple.

I've been testing this servo for about 2.5 months. I must say it does a very good job on my Outrage G5.
