Ok what is the diff in the rex 450 gears? Dark Blue, Light Blue, White. Are they interchangeable. I have the white ones (main and auto) on it now with a light blue belt gear. Can I put the Dark Blue ones on it or do I have to change the belt gear?

Thanks Ronmad02

You have to change the belt drive pulley gear if it is white because the blue gear is a lower ratio. The main drive gear that the motor runs you can use any blue gear except the ones that require the upgraded metal hub for the one-way bearing. The white gears and the least strongest which I prefer as it will hopefully fail first before more expensive parts do in a crash.

To further clarify, white and blues are all the same number of teeth for the main gear. The tail pulley gear must match white/white or blue/blue with no difference in the blue colors except in strength.

Thank you Waco. So the main gears are the same but I need to match the tail gears. Just so I have it right...

Thanks again

Ok I just double checked my set up ( I got it used, its a sa) I have white main and auto gears and the small tail belt gear is light blue. So I would need to switch to either blue main gears or a small white tail gear? What will happen if I leave it the way it is?

Yeah, you should match the tail drive and pulley gears.

If you plan to run over 2900 rpm headspeed, stick with blue for a slightly lower tail ratio.

If you just plan to do simple FF and sport stuff, and don't plan to exceed 2800 - 2900 rpm any time soon, the white gears are fine.

Mismatched tail gears could lead to headspeed drops, bogging, and power drain. Probably not catastrophic, but also not good.

I sport fly with moderate head speed and use the blue tail gears which begets a low tail rotor rpm. I have good tail authority even when using an HS65 rudder servo. In short the tail drive blue gear is not worth changing over to a white one. Remember tail drive is blue/blue or white/white matched. The main drive gear is always 150 teeth regardless of color and doesn't need to be matched to the tail pulley gear color.

I use the rear tail blue gear (from the V2), with the white combo from the V1 (which fit the blue tail gear). The number of teeth and the pitch are exactly the same between gears. The only difference is the design, the material they are made (blue ones are tougher) and the overall streght (again, blue ones are stronger).
