Just got the new issue in the mail. I was pissed at the fact that it is only 26 pages until I read the editorial and saw that they are out of business. Now I'm only pissed that I paid for a years subscription and only got half of my issues before they shut down.

Model Helicopter Technique magazine. The only mag (that was) on the market that isn't loaded with worthless trash, and actually caters to people who know what they are doing instead of beginners.

I guess they would have done better if someone had actually known about them. This is the first I've ever heard of them and I buy every heli mag I can get my hands on. Too bad.

It is sad that MHT is going out of business, yet an absolutely retarded magazine called 'RC Heli' seems to be doing well.

I just got mine today too. I haven't been in RC helis very long but MHT was a very solid magazine with more info than fluff. However, it looks like that was ultimately their downfall, sadly.

Thats sad to hear. I was a subscriber for about 3 years. Even though I am an editor for the other "retarded" heli related magazine, I never like to hear of something good for the hobby going away. I wish the best for MHTJef and all that were involved with the mag.

After trying some other heli mags I settled on MHT because of its technical aspects. Dam, no more subscriptions....

I think about the hereafter. I go somewhere to get something, then wonder what I'm here after ?

This is sad news since I just suscribed last month. However given the tough economy these things happen.

I will miss the in depth articles and the true in your face reviews

Sorry to see MHT go

I know I purchased my 2nd heli - a Sceadu Evo - on the recommendation of MHT. It had one of the most useful tips for maintaining that (and other) helis in the article - ie. grinding down a flybar (slightly) to keep a set screw from galling the flybar and making it impossible to extract.

They'll be missed.

Actually the few times I flipped through the other retarded magazine I noticed they had a few good authors lately. I saw Dr. Tim and Mark Fadely in there.

Wow,

Truly a SAD day in the RC heli community. For those that dont know, It was truly the "Meat and Taters" heli magazine with a Lot of Substance, and NO bling!!!

I remember reading Mike Goza's, and Mike Fortune's articles for Weeks, just so I can fully understand what they are talking about!!

Truly a SAD day! Thanks for all that you guys have done!

All the best for the Future,

What made MHT a good magazine is also what killed it. In the age we live in by the time an issue rolled around the news in there was MONTHS old and sometimes outdated. Very outdated. It was for intermediate and up piots not raw beginners although it always included good explnations of many things we take for granted that have been flying for along time.

I subscribe to RC Heli and liked it at first. Now every month for the last several months with the exception of the Vibe 50 all they put on the cover and all they review is some new Ebay heli NO ONE WANTS. I mean the last two or three I opend the bag at the mail box and by the time I walked up my driveway (about 60-75 feet) I threw it in the trash. Crap like some hundreth T-Rex 450 clone off Ebay. Half the mag is ads to and the SAME ones every month.

With forums like this I think most all mags are destined to fail. Real content can't pay the bills and lack of content kills subscription rates.

I did used to hate it when it used to say, "The color is in the content." That was a cop out. Mike Mas mag, I forget the name, has stunk for years and is very boring. Mike is a very knowledgable guy, but watching paint dry is more entertaining. The English mag, I forget its name was always good, but got very expensive due to the dollar to pound conversion. They are like $10 an issue. Not going to pay that.

Model Helicopter World is another great choice for those not wanting a truly beginner magazine.

As Norman stated, it is rather Expensive at about 10.00 an copy (Subscription rate) But its is a very nice color magazine, with a good mixture of content.

I can't argue with you there. I've got most of the issues of RC Heli - I even bought back issues after I got my subscription. But I'm only remembering seeing four .90 sized heli reviews - leaving most of the helis in that class untouched. You'd think they'd at least cover the machines from MA, JR, & Century. I doubt we'll see an Aurora review, nor will we see a Turbulence review. We'll never see a review of a more rare brands like a Bergen, Vario, Avro, or Henseleit. I suspect the only .90 that'll get reviewed in the next year or so will be the Trex 700 - and that's a big if.

The story for .50s is a bit better, with the major manufacturers usually represented. Of course, they also feature helis that aren't even distributed in the US, which is odd for a US magazine.

But the 500 and smaller class of machines (which I don't even think of buying), I see the same thing you do - every small heli that ever was gets reviewed. It doesn't matter if they had to fly to North Korea and bribe a senior party official to find the thing, if there's a micro electric to be found there, it'll get six pages.

EXACTLY. It is not like they have even scratched the surface and reviewed a Stratus, or Raptor or whatever.

They did actually review a Rappy .90.

My tally:
* Freya
* N9
* Rappy
* TZ Shark .90
