What is a good head speed for My raptor 60, I sport fly and a little 3d.

I have a wobble in my tail and check all posibilities and suspect low head speed.

set the govenor for 1725 idle 1 and 1875 for idle 2 but I was breaking in engine and did not want to overwork engine. I have a gallon and a half thru it so I want to final adjust this thing to rock a bit.

I have 10 tooth pinion and a 93 tooth main gear.
OS70 engine with tt pipe. Throttle jockey pro governor.

I was thinking of 1950 for idle 2 and 1825 for idle 1 is this fine. It would mean my engine would be at 17800 rpm ruffly,

Any advice.

Well here is what I think I should do!

11 tooth pinion
95 tooth main

gear ratio 8.64:1

1950 rpm @ 16807 Idle 2
1850 rpm @ 15977 Idle 1

Should be about right.

this engine developes 2.5 hp @16000 rpm.

I've been helping a guy at our field that has the same setup - OS-70 in an R60. He also has a shake that comes and goes every few seconds, not a constant wobble though. I would suggest that if you have a constant wobble above 1700 RPM it's not low RPM related but something else. We haven't found the exact issue with his R60 yet but I'm of the opinion it's the clutch at this point. I have suggested that we need to drop the engine and dial-indicate the clutch as I can feel it shaking at idle, a lot more than even my gasser. He has tried just about everything else on the heli trying to get the shake/wobble out. Anyway, the clutch is something to think about. Vibs from the clutch could upset the gyro causing issues to show up - my theory.

btw, we up'd the RPM to about 1900 on the head, he like that a lot better! Not sure what gears he's running in it.

I just put a brand new clutch liner JB weld it in and all because I taught the same.

Is it posible the bell is out Of round, If so great I have a new Bell clutch and 3d HD which is wild. About 5/8 bigger in diameter!!

It could well be the clutch, and since we are on the topic I always notice one of the legs on the clutch seems to stick out and as soon as I touch it it returns almost like it is sticky. I sanded the aluminum adapter off of the fan an it still does it SO I think you could be correct about the clutch.

I can't find anything wrong with the clutch but heck, I have a brand new 3d HD bell and clutch waiting for it so I am putting it on. I also wiped out the heli yesterday so I need new tail boom and torque tube, flybar and servo link not bad for a roll over. OH yah blades are a scraped!!!

This give me a good chance to go thru every little detail in the tail portion and I will review head again while I wait for parts...

I had a wobble in the tail on my raptor 60 and just kept raising the head speed untill it is now as smooth as a raptor 50. I never tachoed the head speed but my flying buddies guess its somewhere about the 1800 r.p.m mark.

If it doesnt move and its meant too... use WD 40. If it moves and its not meant too...use duct tape!
