I've got 12 gallons of this new proprietary fuel mix from Magnum.

I'm still skeptical, but 3 cases was the minimum buy-in. I'm willing to let other people help me burn a couple gallons if you want to give it a try. I'm interested to know how it works in various engines.

Anybody have an OS 91 with just one .008 shim in it? I'm most interested in that config. (But I'm not interested enough to take a shim out of mine... well maybe.)

Let me know if you want to burn a couple tanks of this stuff. I can meet you at the Snohomish field.

I'm not sponsored by Magnum. This is my own personal curiosity.

I take it that it just does not work on a stock YS91ST engine then....

I haven't tried any engines yet. The fuel just arrived today. I don't see why it shouldn't work with YS. Anybody who wants to try it, come on over.

No idea on the nitro content.... Might be some, might be none. I haven't seen my invoice yet either... We talked price last week on the phone, and I think the price he said was $22/gallon for three cases, shipped. Prices go down for quantity.

$22 is the same as the 30% nitro, but I guess that fuel might not be available right now, or the price has went up.

Keep us posted with the results, sounds very interesting.

I've been running the stuff for the last month or so, burned about 3 gallons of it between my 91 sz (non pumped) and 50 hyper. It makes great power in both, it's easier to run in the 91 due to its three needle carb. My hyper requires a plug with the first coil or two pulled out of the hole as much as you can in order to reliably transition through the rich midrange of the hyper 50, i've experimented with a few oddball types of plugs (OS F, Enya 3, an odonnell and something else) but haven't found anything yet that works out of the package. Magnum is supposed to have some plugs available before too long, too.

My 50 runs nicely with no head shim at all.

Once you get the carb tuned and modify the plug if your engine needs it, this fuel runs real smooth and makes great power.

I'm nowhere near seattle but pm if you need to pick my brain.

I got a fever! The only prescription is MORE 6HV

I've got three different plugs from Magnum. They have a larger cavity where the filament goes in. So the fuel/air has easier(?) access to the filament.

Three different kinds of plugs. Got to try them all to see what works.

fwiw..

I spoke to Buzz today...the new plugs are apparently the hot ticket..Our limited experiments so far have a good start and idle on OS 8 and Enya #3 plugs, but power is a bit down...According to Buzz, modifying the element of the standard plugs will help quite a bit...I'll try this this weekend and post results...

My hobby room is the Bermuda Triangle of helicopter parts. Every ten minutes I would spend a half hour looking for something... some part, some tool, some screw. It was a relentless series of frustrations which included me installing and spending several hours diagnosing a faulty 7100R. Arrgh! I'm only just now (after dark on Sunday) completing the rebuild on my Fury.

If anybody had asked, I would have been thrilled to leave the house just to truck some of this fuel down to the field. But nobody asked.

I have tentative plans to fly on Tuesday night. I'll be trying the fuel with the OMI Viper head with a Magnum "H" plug on top and an OS8 (with the filament exposed) on the side... and a MP2 pipe.
