I have a Trex 450 SE V1, running stock motor, stock ESC, 3s 2100, 335 Align Woodies and a DX6 (not 6i)

The problem is the helicopter is very sensitive to pitch changes on the collective, move the stick 1-2 mm and the heli will go up or down 1-2 feet. This happens while doing hovering, with no wind, if there is a wind, the movement is much more pronounced.

I'm in the process of changing the washout guide, the Phaze angle pins seemed loose in it, thought this might cause the pitch to change randomly.

The main shaft collar is tight to the bearing, and the heli has been rebuilt enough to know it is not a bad part.

Throttle Curve = 0-65-100
Pitch Curve = 35-50-100

It's like I need expo for the collective....

Any thoughts as to how I can calm this beast down.

add expo to the collective or put a softer curve in your pitch curve

When I had a dx6, I used 0,70,100(thro) and 40,60, 85(col)

That's why I love RR, one hour and I get 2 responses.

Michael88997, not sure I understand what you mean by softer....

When you say softer curve, is the curve that eggmcmuffinplz is suggesting softer?

The pitch curve if you want gentle hovering should go quickly to the point just short of where your stick is when hovering, then have a gently incline for a distance above that point, this allows you to make small movements with the gimbal and not notice big changes on the heli.

eggmcmuffinplz: had if you note only 85% for the highest pitch curve, this means slow increases on the top half of the stick movement. If you add about 25% expo that will slow down the rapid changes also.

Good luck

yea thats what i ment by softer... on ur curve it goes from 50 to 100 is probably where ur flying which will make it increase fast... if you do 60 to 85 like egg suggested it doesnt put in as much collective making it softer... if that isn't enough for you try just moving the top point up a couple of clicks each time til it suits u

Unless I do not know what I'm doing (that is the case) I don't think the DX 6 has expo on the pitch/throttle stick.

Does it and I just can't find it. And if I did add that, it would only change around the center of the stick, once I moved the stick up out of the center area, the heli would just fire straight up. Correct?

All that will do is lower his headspeed when at full throttle. It wont change how responsive the collective is from one position to the next.

pitch curve doesn't do anything to headspeed... that would be throttle curve. if you lower the pitch curve at the top when you push the stick up the blades would only go for instance +8 degrees instead of +11 which means while your hovering around if you give it more stick it doesn't move as much

As eggmcmuffinplz says limit your pitch curve.

If you are learning then you don't need +11 / -11 degrees. I have mine set for 40, 60, 85 and Expo on Ale and El of 25%. As I progress I will change the curve.

I had the same problem. For me the Throttle Curve was the problem.

Normal Mode:
Throttle Curve = 0-85-100
Pitch Curve = 35-50-100

Worked MUCH better for me. There is no expo on throttle on the DX6.

Also, what really helped this problem go away for me was to go to idle up with the following curves:

Idle Up:
Throttle Curve = 100-85-100
Pitch Curve = 0-50-100

Hope this helps,
Waff

Is there a swash menu on the dx6 ? Do some adjusting in there -- like lowering the % a bit :0)
