Sounds like the answer to this post has be clarified...There is a right way and a Half a** way of doing things....if you paid any attention at all to the servo's RC.Chris has selected to use, it doesn't seem he is trying to trim a buck or two. The post was created for his best interest not for everyone elses. Based on what he has already selected why would anyone suggest anything less than the best. Sorry but, it does sound like one uping to me.

RC.Chris my thoughts were based off the selection of equipment you had already chosen, not what others my use for there equipment. There is endless equipment setups out there.

If you want to be a drunk hang out with one.
If you want to be depressed hang out with one.
If you want to be mediocre hang out with mediocre people.
If you want to be the best hang with best.

Just some food for thought. This will be my last post on this.

Never mind

If the wings are traveling faster than the fuselage, it's probably a helicopter.

I just finished my Stratus and have 10 flights on it. I am also using 8717s on the cyclic/collective and a 8900 on the tail. I gave my throtle servo selection a lot of thought and ended up with another 8900, for the simple reason I felt that my throtle response should be as fast if not faster than my collective to avoid any blade bogging ( and yes so all my servos will be matching red ) When it came right down to it I had just finished putting together a high end machine over the last two weeks and didn't want to scimp on ANYTHING.
Will I at my level of flying notice the diference? Probably not. Did I spend more money than I needed to? I usually do. Do I feel better knowing I did everything I could to make this machine top notch?
OH YAAAA !!!! And you will too. Just my .02

I am looking at putting a DS3517 on my Vibe. JR, digital, fast and mini sized, so a bit lighter.

Another choice would be the Hitec HS-81/82, fast and cheap. They are coming out with a digital version, the HS-5082.

As for speed, the motor will only respond so fast, and without an acelerator po\ump, like cars have, too fast opening the throttle could actually cause the motor to die.
