On July fourth I lost the fourth radio in two months. The radio in question just quit working! Unfortunatly I was flying at night, Ship was totalled.
Post crash inspection revealed gyro (mechanical) still working but no servo activity.
Next day I turned on the switch and same thing, Cycled the switch and it starts working again.
This is the fourth JR radio thats quit on me in two months!
It's time to stock up on Futaba receivers.

If this is indeed the FOURTH radio failing in TWO months, we might suggest that you're having personal problems with radios in general, or there's a higher being having it in for you

Only JR failure we've ever seen at our club (40 pilots, 10+ years) is from a fellow who failed to watch Rx supply voltage. He's learnt.

are you leaving them out in the sun?

keeping them in a car for a long period of time?

sorry, but i would start at by looking how the radios are treated.

I never had a problem with a JR tx in 20 years, but you have problems with 4 in 2 months ? That's a little odd

I had a 6102 went bad on me. Used for about 1 year, flew maybe 8-10 times per week. throttle started sticking, thought it needed lubed, took it apart and carefully lubed the parts, still did it. Come to find out it was an electrical part causing small jumps in the throttle, not very helpful in flying.

Since I couldn't find my receipt it was going to cost me $60 plus. so I just bought the DX7 and shelved the 6102, point is they do go bad sometimes.

Sounds odd to me as well. I have never heard of so many going bad in such a small time. Otherwise I have never heard of one going bad at all...

I suppose it could happen but so many in such a small time and to the same person is truely odd.

Per your username you should be flying Futaba. Swap over quick. Futabas work much better with mechanical gyros too.

For the Helicopters that I saw in his gallery. This guy does not have the gold sticker in his JR radio.
I think he still in AM frequency, and He is getting interference from the border.(All the immigration Officer radios).

Well, I've flown JR since December 1980 and have never had a radio failure of any kind; transmitter or receiver.

Servo failures, sure, but look what they go through: and service from MacGregor, Circus Circus, and now Horizon has been world class.

You should never assume that these things are always caused by user stupidity. I had 4 JR RX's go off the air a few years ago - 2 x 6ch & 2 x 9ch. One of the 9ch's had never even been used - pulled it out of the box to replace one of the bad ones, and it was also bad. Anyhoo, I sent them off to get repaired & they found that there was a surface mount coil that had gone open-circuit on each of them. Not feasably repairable. Never got any explanation as to why they had all failed in the same way. Suffice to say I've never trusted JR receivers since. Still use JR Tx's & servos, but not Rx's.

Just curious, have you sent any of the radios into JR? Have you found what happened to any of them? Were they stored anyplace that was extremely hot.

Since I see you live in N.M., it is always hot, right? But were they kept in a closed building? Or even better, were they all bought from the same lhs and maybe they had shipped or stored them in a harsh area.

Since J.R. is a well Known and respected name, and I assume after spending that much money you have tried to take care of them I am curious what happened. Please keep us informed.

As I stated earlier, I had a problem with a J.R. radio tx but it was one of those unusual things and I have no worry about buying J.R. again. Hopefully it can be figured out what happened to yours.

Sorry about your luck

11 Receivers
6 Transmitters
25 years of JR usage, no failure...ever.
And the above doesn't even count in my 6 Spectrum/JR receivers

Might I suggest to go over your installation/handling and storage procedure?
