Hope this doesn't post twice.

Little background, been flying helis off and on for 15 years, all nitro. Not into 3-D just foward flight. I got a 400 last weekend and enjoyed flying it right out of the box. It was a little more jitty than my 550 size bird, but not bad and much cleaner, plus I can fly it in my backyard.

Question about the batteries, the book said to keep the them at half charge when storing them. Does this mean for a long period of time? I did this last night and thought when I got home from work today it would take half the time to charge them, wrong, it seemed to take the same amount of time as a complete charge. Can I keep them at full charge overnight? It would be nice to come home from work and fly without the hour wait to charge. If they are kept at half charge why does it take about the same amount of time as a full charge?

Question 2, I decided to try the stunt mode today, I'm sure I'll have her fixed tomorrow. After reading the book I changed the throttle cureve to 100,85,70,85,100 for a little less aggressive mode. I was in a hover when I swithed to stunt mode, she shot off like a rocket. I was able to switch back but was unable to save it from a hard touchdown. Is this normal? I would of thought by changing the throttle curve it would of been a better transistion. Where did I go wrong, other than doing this in the limited space of my backyard?

Anyways, I am enjoying the electric side of heli flying and think I'm hooked, as now I can fly almost everyday without going to the field.

Thanks in advance for the help,

Craig

you can keep your batterys at full charge for over a week with out problems, if you are going to store them for longer I would do the half charge deal.

Daveyg, thanks for the info, this will help.

Anyone have any input on the stunt mode? I would think in a hover the transistion between norm and stunt should be smooth, correct?

Time to repair her, so I can fly tomorrow.

if you are using the dx6i just go to pitch curve and make shure it is completely liniar being 0,25,50,75,100 in stunt mode and somthing like 15,35,50,75,100 the throttle will not make it just shoot up it is the pitch. also for the batteries only store them at half charge if it will be over a month, it is not a big deal and will not hurt the batteries to store them full for several weeks.

hope this helps

wingman, My stunt mode is 100,85,70,85,100. I thought this would make the transistion smooth. I don't want my stunt mode to set-up like normal mode.(0 to 100) As I'm working for some inverted flight as soon as I can get the transistion smoother. My nitro was easy because you can see the horn on the carb and see, on the ground without starting the engine were the setting are as you flip the switch.

Thanks for the bat info.

Sorry wingman, I'll give those setting a try. Will I have enough power to do an inverted climb?

it will be just as good as an upright climb if your head is adjusted right

after you make the adjustments unplug the motor and make shure that when you are in idle up and have the stick half way there is zero pitch and that there is pleanty of negative and positive with the stick all the way down and all the way up. if not you will need to adjust the head and I could explain that if you need it and that is the case.
