I'm in the process of installing a tailboom on a Raptor 50 Titan and I have a question in regards to the orienation of the tail rotor with respect to the helicopter frame.

Upon installation, when I view the tail rotor from behind the helicopter (looking forward), it appears that the tail rotor blades (and vertical fin) are not perpendicular to the ground (slightly angled towards a 1 o'clock position). Is this intended in the design of the helicopter or is it an installation issue? If not, does anyone know of potential adverse effects this would have on flight characteristics?

Thanks for the help.

It should be at right angle to the ground. When the boom mount screws loosen, you should be able to twist and rotate the boom slightly.

Yep. You should be able to look towards the front. The top of the tail case should line up with the gyro mount. There should be enough play in the slots in the front of the boom to get it spot on.

Thanks. I loosened up the tailboom mount screws and was able to straighten everthing up. I must have somehow got it misaligned when I was torquing the screws the first time.

I would hate to see what it would have done if I didn't correct this!

As BH says, better aligned to the gyro mount than to the ground.

I see what you're saying, it makes sense keeping everything in releation to the helicopter.
