I'm getting 3000 rpm with 18t pinion and 6s (pair 3s) on my Lepton, Kora 15-14, SAB blades, CC85 ESC at 80% max throttle. This headspeed it high! I ran over 3300 with 19t and 100% but then the tail threw a CF blade. The blade may have been damaged in a earlier crash but it looked perfect. What is the limit for rpm on th Lepton anyway? Is an 80% max on my Spectrums throttle curves the right way to limit rpm? Readyheli sells a 17t pinion, I may try that. I'll try and fly tomorrow morning, right now it's 104 deg an windy outside!

I don't any CC esc so I don't know the setting.

Just want to share my experience with Jeti66.

I remember I had read another thread saying that any headspeed over 3200rpm will strip the main gear ... so I have never set my gov over 3000rpm which means the tail speed is about 12000rpm.

As I said in other thread, I tried the HDX 13T tail pulley + 2950rpm headspeed. The tail speed comes to ~12700rpm and it is still smooth and solid and no vibration.

I am using Hacker A30-12XL 770kv + 19T. Without coefficient, it comes to ~3445rpm HS. With 90%, it becomes to ~3110rpm and I set the gov to 2800rpm so that the tail rpm should be ~12061rpm. I had used eagletree to check my Jeti66 and the rpm is very close to the data I get from Jeti box.

I think I will not try 3300rpm headspeed or 13200rpm tailspeed because both of these rpm will get main gear stripped or tail blade flied off.

I got in a couple of flights on my Lepton today. Holy s---! 6s is sick! This thing was flying like my Trex 600n. I ran my ESC at 100% and got 3100+ rpm and just figured what the hell. You can hear it straining a bit, sounds like too much rpms, or an angry heli sound, don't you just love that angry heli sound? I'll probably try a 17t pinion since I don't want to run a lowered throttle setting in my TX. My batts were hot though! I'm borderline to puffing packs here, 150 degrees. What a rush though, now I understand the Trex 500 comotion, it's because they are running 6s.

Man,

Thank you for posting! I have recently come to love my Lepton on 6s. We're running a fairly identical setup. I must say that I really love the power of the Lepton on 6s. Anything I said before about the cyclic being slow is totally wrong after I got better blades. I love the way the Lepton flies and it actually seems to outfly my TRex 500. I love my 500 and have a great motor on it (Scorpion 1400kv). It does seem to bog a little but man, do I love to fly it.

I told you it would be such a step up from 4s and even 5s!

I'm running about 3000 head speed and my throttle curve is something like 90% with a 19T pinion.

I got a test coming up but let's make plans to meet up in Livermore in August! Does that sound good?

Cool, I'll give you a call after summer vacation (late August). I am running the SAB's you mentioned and they are very nice blades. Was the Scorpion better than the Kora and which one do you have? I just finished a Gazaur Poseidon last week and got a bunch of flights on it with a Scorpion 2221-6 motor. My mini review is in the "New and emerging section" anyway, the Scorpion motor is giving me amazing performance and efficiency in this 450 size heli. I'm impressed! Also the company owner seems like a very nice and knowledgable guy. A bunch of the old Livermore EBRC gang spent like 12 hours at a beautiful field just north of Coaldale yesterday, the field is called R/C Unlimited and it's on the edge of Woodford Resevoir, they have a website. It was so fun to fly at a place where you can fly helis and foamies they way they are meant to fly, at EBRC 90% of the flying we did would have gotten us kicked out of the club! Safety you know, gotta fly everything like a noob with a plank...

Oh yeah, as for puffing packs, I had two older TP 2170 packs rated at 18A/31.5A burst, these packs can't handle the amp draw of the 6s setup. My newer TP 2200V2 are fine with it.

The new flying field sounds good! We should hit that too. Do you have a web site?

Anyway, I'm glad you're loving your Lepton. I still am.
