Here is a picture of a lava flow from about 10 years ago or so. That lava looks black because it is moving so slowly the outside is cooling, but it is hot! It felt like standing next to an open furnace.

If any of you visit the big island you should check out some of these places as well.

Snow on Mauna Kea, 14,000 ft dormant volcano.


Waipio Valley on the Kohala Coast (north coast), site of some hawaiian farms.


Waimanu valley. An 8 mile hike from Waipio valley or about a 3 mile kayak or boat trip.

And if anyone likes hunting, there is great wild boar hunting on the big island.

Here wildlife biologists trap pigs in residential areas and relocate them back to the forest.

I've stopped eating pork and bacon after I shot a couple of wild boars. I donated the meat since they freakin stink, ugly, and with ticks all over them. Freakin boar even took a crap on the truck in your photo .
