I have very little knowledge on BECs, but here's my quesiton :

I have two gas boats (I know boring) I am planning on running 7.4 Li-Ion packs in for the receiver and 2 servos. The receivers will be Futaba FASST receivers and per manufacturer specs are to be run at 6.0 volts. I have seen people running the Castle Creation 10 amp BEC's as a "regualtor" - does this really work?

I had bad luck with mine resetting my Spektrum RXs from low voltage. It didn't matter how high I set it either, I could stir the sticks or load the swash and it would cause my RX to reset from dropping below 3.5 volts. Unless it uses small servos like a Trex, I wouldn't use it in anything.

If you want to use a BEC as a reg, try the Hercules. They are a little bigger, but they work great. I have had good luck with the 5 amp version on 2 of my helis.

The servos I will be using are a high torque 1/4 scale servo on rudder, and a high speed digital on throttle. I was thinking that 10 amps should be plenty for just those two servos.

somteimes it doesn't do "what it says on the tin" I bought 4 of these CC BECS but have never used them after hearing from people having the voltage drop under load to the point of a Spectrum receiver became "unbound"

If you still wish to try one I suggest some "tests" with it on dry land first where you put the system under load

I've been using the CC BEC in a 50 sceadu and 90 raptor without a problem. Just make sure your supply voltage is adequete. I'm running 3S lipos into both regulators I have 9252's all around in the sceadu with 401, and hitec metal gear digitals in my 90 (can't remember the type) they all work well. Also, make sure your servos arn't binding.

10 amps is the peak and 5 is the steady output. I add another power input to my Spektrum RX in my 1:8 cars.

Castle Advisory

What concerns me is the note at the bottom that states 5A continuous at more than 3S input. Wonder what it is at 2S? I found more reliability and less drop-outs at lower regulated voltages.

That makes sense, i use 9252s which don't draw as much, and i'm by no means a stick banger. I couldn't get more than 3 amp PEAKS on the ground moving the sticks as fast as i could. I'm sure its more in the air, but i haven't had a problem yet. If i get to the point of doing hard 3d, i might upgrade to 2 CC BEC's
