How to rate a crash.......

Spun up and tipped over without ever leaving the ground is a hard crash in my books.
A mild crash is bumping the tail rotor while putting it away in my car at the end of the day.

As RH50 and Rotomonkey will tell you I'm pretty tame, my "WOOHOO" days are long over and that may have lowered my expectations from a crashed heli.
To me I expect very little from any heli when it hits the ground. Judge it in the air not as it slams into the ground. To top it off do everything in your power not to hit the ground. First rule of aviation is to leave and return safely to earth.

My 2 cents is that the best crashing high preformance machines I've seen to date come from La Heli and Mikado. Give MSH time their machine will only get better. I think they did very well for a first gen heli, it sure made my eyes pop when I saw it for the first time.

DOH!

Just the same, I think I'll wait for the next gen to pick one up.

Lord knows I've put a few into the dirt. But I have never done one so completely. I thought my Logo was bad?

Now compare that to a Raven crash on a scale of 10

that protos hit at I would say a 6

So I guess the protos is now PRO TOAST

chin up at least the parts are cheap

Good god man! So, you had a heli dual with RPG's for the 4th of July, and you lost? WTF?!?!?! It looks like Barry Bonds played baseball with it, or Dick Cheney went hunting with it, or North Korea did a test launch with it, or My mom tried to cook it, or I tried to date it?

Whatever happened there, it sure ain't pretty!

I feel your pain!

Dang, that thing is jacked up. I smashed my Rex 500 in hard a few weeks ago(from ravens description of the crash, my rex went in way harder), it 1/5 of the damage of that protos. thats just ugly.

Ever see pics of a Ferrari after a crash??? Yeah, I'm thinkin' Italian+superlight+crash=big mess o parts! In F1 they say, "if the car comes back after the race with nothing broken, it was built too heavy!"

Moral of the story is... DONT CRASH! ;-)

I can agree to that. This heli was built for 3d, and it does it well. It goes like snot. That being said, I don't have the ability to make use of all the power from the heli I have now, let alone the Protos.

Ridiculous power's nice, but I'd rather have the heli with a little less power that won't break into a million pieces after crashing. If I ever become a 3d master I might change my tune, but I'm not holding my breath.
