Hi Folks. Anyone played around with the recording feature? I have run into a couple issues.

1) When I start the session from a loaded Heli (or plane) and airport one craft remains on the tarmac while the one I'm in control of and being recorded does it's thing. On playback I've always got this phantom craft idling in the background. Whats up?

2) I don't see any export feature for the recording files. Anyone know how to convert to windows media format (avi or another)?

Thanks!

Hmm, I've just found a collection on You Tube. Some are obvious video camera captures but others look like a conversion unless they are camera captures with a careful tripod setup. There must be a way!

I believe Fraps will work. Only gives a 30 second capture until purchase.

OK. Just getting over a windows update mess with my desktop, had to use my laptop to get support. Now that everything is sorted out, I'll give it a shot.

I use Fraps and then Windows Movie Maker to convert to .wmv and it works perfectly.
If you are on a widescreen monitor you have to set Movie Maker up for widescreen as well.

Use 60fps in Fraps, tell it where to store the video file and then when you are ready to record press F9 and it writes to your designated folder.

Fraps does not compress video as it writes it so the files are HUGE, for example a 1 minute flight will be around 3 gigs so you need to use Movie Maker (free download) to compress it to something realistic.

Drag the file into Windows Movie Maker and select the 1.5mbps "downloaded' video option and get perfect movies as a result.

I tried several times to link a video here but it will not let me do it for some reason.

Here is a link to a video I posted on HeliFreaks ... it is in the first post.....not sure why I cannot just link the video directly here.

Yeah I just tried out Fraps today. I didn't have any issues getting a video capture. The thirty seconds is a bit of a hassle and requires some editing in a story board unless one purchases it.
