5mm hollow rod (0.5mm wall thickness) with ONE century support guide. I also use teflon shrink tubing (40mm )on that spot so that the carbon doesn't wear out. Please use a 25mm brass tube on each end and epoxy it all together ie link + rod + brass tube covering the link. DO NOT LEAVE THREAD EXPOSED. I learned the hard way that at those points, an unsupported thread (not being covered with brass tubing glued to the link ball itself) will stress and shear.

Check out the Synergy, MA and Aurora manual. They all cover the ball link with it... I guess they also learned the hard way

when I build my second kit I took out all the screws to soak them in alcohol and couldn't believe how much they weighed.
Are you saying the screws are porous????

Quotes may have been changed for my own amusement

OH MY God! I got a chance to fly fatty for real today at the field, not just some hovering around my driveway. I had no idea what i was missing with my titan, this thing flys awesome awesome awesome!! It tracks like an arrow and climbs like a rocket. rolls and flips fast but is smooth and stable in a hover. The Redline runs great with the mp5 and has plenty of power.

The only little problem if it can be called that is my atg/engine, i am using active mode and it will hold 1950 great but, seems i dont have enough power for it to hold 2100. Does anybody here use that rpm?

I just cant get over it, flys awesome. Im sure i could get some more out of the raptor with similar equipment on it but i dont think it can hold a candle to fatty. I just need to figure out what to do with my raptor now cause i dont think it will get much stick time now.

You will need to run your Redline at 2200, it doesn't make much power around 1900-2100.

Personally I don't care what mine weighs, it is the best dam flying 50 that I have flown and I have flown them all.

@Funky Trex

you've got a very nice canopy!

Mine weighs about 3670g. Maybe I'll change the boom supports and boom clamp and remove the horizontal fin.

My setup: (140 ccpm with black anodized landing skid)
Os Hyper
Hatori 521
Radix 600 SB's
Radix 92mm
3x BLS 451
MultigovPro with a S9254 (had an extra one)
Gy 611 with BLS 251
Scott Gray Reactor X (6V)
CSM Cyclock1
TP 2100mAh
TT green's for now, later Align Carbon paddels (-16g)
TT header tank for now, but soon I'll install a K+S on the perfect position, a little bit below the lower bearing block hole.

Update

I left my Vibe on the kitchen table unattended and while I went out for dinner, it seems that the heli went strait to the refrigerator and ate up all the icream I had in there... result... it now weights shocking 3657gr

Now seriously... I've been testing alot of upgrades and alternative solutions which made me install a bunch of extra sensors (amp draw, two temp sensors, etc) 5 grams here, 5 grams there and now I have a fat lady too...

It still flies great though. I hope that when this saga is all over, I can remove the logger and the wire nest I have right now and bring the heli back in shape

Well mines all built ready to fly! Just weighed it without main blades and it comes to 3380g or 7lb 7oz. I saved some weight on the tail (44g), how you'd save 100g at the tail I don't know. Will post pics once I've uploaded them.

Hopefully will maiden it tomorrow.

128g are extremely heavy blades for the tail, that sounds like the weight of main blades...? I'm using SAB 415 87mm tail blades same as Tony.

Its saving weight off the tail of the heli that I'm interested in. I've removed the horiz fin, fitted the QUK clamp, replaced boom supports and Vert fin with TRex 600 c/f ones and the weight difference between the parts I took off and those I put on was only 44g. Where does the remaining 56g come from?

Dr Lodge: tail linkage (replace with carbon) is about 15gr savings. The boom supports have to be 0.5mm wall thickness (not 1mm) which will bring the weight down 30gr alone. the final 15 gr comes from the TT itself if replaced with carbon.

Engine/muffler choice can have quite an impact .
The OS 50SXH weighs 406g , the Webra 55 comes in at just 340g .
Weston UK genesis pipes are also very light compared to many others .
The West 50 weighs in at 392g with the Genesis mini-pipe !

At the end of the day , it gets dark .
