I am reading more and more of our fellow heli pilots scamming other heli pilots out of there money. Not shipping what they promise and not answering to the pm's after they get the money about there shipment. While all along they knew they was going to scam that person or any one who goes for the deal. Guys our hobby is suppose to be fun and exciting, but if these people keep doing this and they know who they are it is ashame that they take other heli pilots hard earn money and not ship what they promise,it takes the fun out of the selling part of the hobby. Just venting my 2 cents.

Just cant stand the thought of it! I think a proven offender should be hung in the town square!
That said, I jsut dont agree with you. I still think a straight rip off is VERY RARE. Comaired to all the good deals that happen the number of rip off is very low. I get even lower when you really look at the threads that claim rip off when its really bad communication or some other cause that made a deal seem to go bad or really did make it go bad. I thought I was ripped off not too long ago. Took several days/weeks to get it sorted out. In the end the delay was very understandable and I am very glad I did jupm on RR and start a bad guy thread.
RIP OFFS ARE RARE. Communicate very well, use established members, get pics ask questions, get all the details nailed down and chances are you will not get ripped off.

I dont know........Im not into rockin the boat, if I was Id say prove it.No wat to prove it Id guess. Id just prefur to look at things from the bright side. I think its rare, I think most of us jump the gun on these deals (starting a I got ripped thread). Of course I tend to look for and see the best in people, so I guess Im biased. Its just easyer to sleep good thinkin and expecting the best from folks. Kinda the glass is half full/half empty thing

Anywhere there is money, you will find a scammer! It is not peculiar to just this hobby. At large gatherings you will no doubt find someones car will be broken into if they left anything on view. And this will be by someone who is "in the hobby".

Most of the guys i know would bend over backwards to help you. In saying that it only takes one scammer to spoil it for the rest of us and leaves everybody a bit more wary of helping out the next time.

If it doesnt move and its meant too... use WD 40. If it moves and its not meant too...use duct tape!

FBoss is absolutely right.......

There are literally hundreds of deals "GONE GOOD" on a weekly basis compared to the occasional BAD deal that we all tend to key in on.......

I'm not condoning those deals that go bad or REAL SCAMMERS like Just Canopies........ but the fact is, trading on RR is generally a pleasant experience if you do it right and know how to read the warning signs prior to engaging in any deal......

They have scumbags and scammers in every walk of life. Bad karma will catch up to them in the end.

This is true. Unfortunately as more and more people get interested in R/C heli's there will be a proportionate amount of dirtbags.

Despite a few minor problems lately (which turned out good) I have had pretty good luck. I had a little scare this past week with 2 lost packages but one showed up yesterday and the other today. This puts me back at 100% sent/recieved packages over the last 2 years which is very good considering how many I have sent and recieved in that time.

The only real problem I have had lately is getting more and more items that are not like they were described I can think of 3 items just in the past 2 months that were in pretty rough shape but were described as "like new" in the ad or PMs. I guess my idea of "like new" is just different from some other people

Im getting scared cause im gonna have to pay the guy 180 and he didnt get the heli and i have a lost heli in the postal system. Ive never had a scare and have been selling for a long time. Maybe ive just been lucky. Man this sucks bad.

Of course, you can always just not buy used stuff off the internet.

I find that most people that scam are not heli pals they are wanting to buy cheap to sell for profit . They dont even know how to fly . I only like to sell to someone that is going to use what I'm selling . I ask some choice questions and find out what their intentions are . I just sold a R90 3D for 500.00 because buyer was cool I sent a set of 690 V blades and 2 set of tails plus a lot of xtras . I also got havoc for not posting price but this weeds out the asses .

Yes the safest option is not to buy used off the internet, just like its safest not to leave your house. As a budget flyer myself, I feel the need to save where I can. If I didnt look for and take advantage of good deals, new or used I might still be flying but would not be as far along as I am.

To me as a side benifit, I really like all the nice/cool people I have talked to while "doing Business". In a PM I usally put my phone number down so, if the person wants to we can talk. Most times the call is over 30mins with about 5-10 spent on the subject and the rest just BSing about helis. Met alot of good folks and learned TONS just from the phone calls. Like RCMed-x said, its great to know that the item you are selling/buying is going to someone that will use it, throwing in some extras to a buddy in need is always rewarding for everyone.

Just in this thread are 2 examples of deals that could have been called "bad Guy" deals and an example of "like New" issues (communication failures), all of the examples could have ended with "bad Guy" threads but it looks like the guys involved used some common scence. My Point is alot of "Bad Deals" are just poor communication or could be filed under Shxt Happens. Looks like the people in this thread, by there actions, agree. So, all Im sayin' is make DARN SURE of all the facts before you go and trash a fellow members name, starting a bad guy thread and saying stuff you really cant take back. AND its true, a total rip off is a rare event, so use just a little common scence, a little caution, and chances are you wont get ripped off.

RIP ROMAN
