Hey Guys,
I'm interested in getting a Gaui 200. I was just wondering if you guys recommend a 2S or 3S setup? Also what batteries are the shizzle right now? Is Hyperion good or should I go with something else? Bert I heard is running the 2S setup with a Z power motor...what do you guys think of that?

Thanks in Advance,
Bub

H200

Hi Bub

At this time the Z motor seems to be the go-to power. As for batterys, I would say that most use 2s, but there are quite a few trying 3s, especialy with the stock motor. As you said, Bert was using 2s with the Z. Actually, the Gaui 2s 800ma gives you a lot of bang for the buck, but most any good brand will work. I have a couple of Zippy K1000 2s that work with my mount, a little snug, but they work. Good to go with a smaller gyro as there isn't a lot of room. The Logictech 2100 is a good choice. Hitech 45s, and what ever tail servo you prefer(keep it small)is the way to go.

Hope this helps,
Dave

I have 2 Hurricane 200's. Shaft and Belt. I run 2s and the Zpower 5150 and the stock ESC in both helis. I have tached the shaft version at 4570 and that was 87% throttle. This is an awesome little heli. They are real finnicky when it comes to the setup, but once it's right this heli is a joy to fly. Very small hardware, 1.6mm screws so you better have good eyesight and tweezers. I'm a white boy so already had the tweezers. I use the Kong 850's DN 850's and MegaPower 1000's all 2S. If you want your batts to fit between the frames they can't be any wider than 31mm without modding. 3s is heavy and makes for hot motors, batts. and ESC's. Flight times aren't to bad. Hovering practice I'll get 6 1/2 minutes on the shaft bird and 5 1/2 on the belt. Bert Kammerer only recommends 3 minutes they way he flys due to battery temps. Hitec HS45's and Spektrum DSP 60's fit perfectly. I have both and prefer the Hitec only because they just feel stronger. The spektrums work just as well they're digital and programmable. Locictech gyro and tail servos are awesome. The Spartan gyro works very well in this heli as does the 401 but is a tad bigger and heavier. Weight is more critical on this heli too because of disc loading. Blades are 200mm. Plastics are indestructable and woodies are the shizzle for 3D. Gaui just came out with FRP blades that are like fiberglass and they are the best yet. Carbons don't exist for this bird yet.

Thanks for the input! Does your shaft version strip the tail gears a lot?

I have been lucky and haven't stripped one yet. I hope I didn't just jinx myself. I also think you can decrease your chances of stripping gears by getting the tail up in the air more. The stock landing gear is so short and wimpy. I put different landing gear on mine and that put the tail up a little higher. The bottom of the tailfin is 40mm above the ground now. Every little bit helps.

I use Flightpower Evolite 800Mah 3S1P in mine and fitted a trex battery to the front to hold the gyro. The battery fits fine for width but is a little long. Works great though with the stock motor with plenty of power and good cog with the 401 up front. Never tried it on a 2 cell.

You mean a T-rex battery tray right?

Perform the same

On my upgraded EP100 Pro (has the 200 head, 190mm blades, etc.) I've tried both 3S (Z Power motor) and 2S (GAUI 4800kv motor) and both setups seemed to perform the same. Using cheapo Aplus and Hextronix batteries. No 3D, just rolls and loops.

how does the Zpower 5150 fare on 3s? I tried that combo on a 300 (the motor says it's a 300 class motor) and I fried the motor. Maybe it was cuz I wis trying to swing a bigger head/blades and themotor couldnt do it.

By the time you read this, you've already read it!!

3S is just too much for this little helicopter.
We have done Z power, Scorpion, and the stock motor.
They all do well on the 2S.

I fly my 200 on 3S 900 TPwrs. BUT I had to change the gearing - went to a 12T pinion. Batt temps are only warm, motor never overheats & has WAYY more 'POP" than a 2S setup.
I did try it on a 2S & with the smaller pinion, it's extremely docile - almost like a beginner setup.
Enjoyable to fly indoors with a 2S & like a Hummingbird on Steriods on a 3S !!

I fly mine on 2s Tenergy 900's and smc 900's and its unreal. I personally don't see any reason to add extra weight and more expensive packs when it has more than enough power on 2s.

AJ's 200 is quite impressive with that setup, to say the least. It pulls out like somethin' else... I agree, no need for 3s.

Stock Motor Dog

I think the stock motor is a dog. I got 10 1/2 degrees pitch both ways. With the stock motor, it barely climbs (inverted or right side up). I have the Zpower 5150 on both shaft and belt and it makes a huge difference. I've only used the Gaui 800 2S battery and the Outrage 2S battery. Both brands of battery power about the same.
