I haven't used the Spartan, but also very happy with the Solid G 32% gain as seen on the Gview, 19mm arm, Stratus parameters. I know one other person here who has used both gyros and prefers the Solid G to the Spartan.

Solid G vs Spartan

I have tried the solid g and the spartan in my Aurora and the results with solid G is better! Have a different felling like more power with same precision on the tail!

Yeah, I think CYE is using Buzz's special brew.

That's because it's easier than admitting the Solid-G is better.

No I don't hate it. I just think its ridiculos comparing gyros in terms of "power" as if we were talking about an engine.

Listen, what made me jump to the spartan was its size, weight and peformance. You don't see me bashing other gyros (well except for the logictech) just because I feel like. My comments usually are only answers to other people's post about ridiculous claims.

We all know that both the spartan and SolidG are top of the line gyros nowadays. Yes, the SolidG is using the old 611 sensor but their programming is superior to the 611. The spartan uses another sensor (hence its size) but are custom configured at the factory (not to mention their internal code which is something from another world).

You can't go wrong with any of them. It ends up being a matter of choice and personal preference. The default settings of one might suit you better than the other but it is absolutely possible (on the spartan anyway) to customize the response to your personal preference.

When sombody sais Gyro X gives a better piro rate than Gyro Y... well, change the limits on gyro Y until you reach the response of Gyro X. In the end what matters for me is:

a) tail holds through every maneuver I can perform
b) piruetting rate is constant
c) its ease of use. Hence no headaches with mounting, drifting, etc

When a gyro does all 3, I have no problem in using it. I don't care if its called DS760 or SolidG or anything else. I just don't come here trying to convince a SolidG user to change to Spartan as I think its ridiculous trying to convince a Spartan user to go out and buy a solidG.

Some guys try to make it look like that if you go with brand X your heli won't lift from the ground without loosing its tail. Thats not true. I bet that 99% of the guys can't even distinguish a SG from a Spartan when flying it (I sure couldn't) so don't come here sayign "wow its so much better. I can now do a 360 piro without problems" lol

my two cents

Tony

Yes I have tried it. Feels different which doesn't mean "better". This is matter of personal taste and choice. I didn't like the 2 box solution nor the story about the recall for cleaning. That was enough for me to make my choice. Nothing to do with performance which in my view is so close you can't distinguish them.

I spent countless hours bugging Angelos and Mark about the gyro internals and other details and both took the time to explain me every little small detail even at 2 am and I didn't even own the gyro yet. Customer support comes first for me... I have Angelos on MSN and last time I spoke to him was yesterday at 4 am (his time) because of an update... try the same with CSM or CYE.

Congrats for your 15 seconds of fame on TV btw I had to cover my kids eyes, I didn't want him exposed to your ugly mud at lunch time

Tudo em cima la pro norte pah?

CYE

The CYE works fine without updates!!!!
I spend my time flying!!!!
I stay flying the mikado logo 600 with vbar, and the vbar rudder gyro for me have better feeling than the CYE and Spartan, so is better??!!!
You have told me that your vibe 50 can´t have more than 25%gain in utrera with Spartan!!!! So the gyro is fine now?

Aqui está tudo bem! E quanto aos minutos de fama, não são meus, são do helimodelismo Portugues, alguem tem de fazer algo por isso!!!

39% right now and holding well

25% was because, as you know, the vibe 50 tail rotor is 8.25mm larger than the 600N tail rotor. Now add that to the fact that I was using the outer hole (17mm), mecanical gain was extremely high. The tail is a balance of mechanical/electronic gain. When you reduce one, you have to increase the other and vice versa. Moving the arm to 13mm and reducing tail blades from 95mm to 87mm, everything clicked.

One curious thing is that the weighted g-force tail rotor is the same physical dimension as the 600N tail rotor so by using this tail rotor with 95mm blades, the rotor disc diameter is now exactly the same as the vibe 50 stock tail rotor with 87mm blades.

Speaking of Utrera... you said then that the vibe 50 was a slow and heavy pig and yet you choose it over the 600N to fly in front of the cameras last week curious what we say and what we end doing

Ja chega de lavar roupa suja pah . Cada um gosta do que gosta. So acho mal tentar convencer os outros porque a nossa preferencia e' diferente. Qualquer um deles e' muito bom não concordas?

Tony

PS - Nothing wrong with low gain. I happen to know a guy that is running 21% on his trex500 and the guy happens to know the gyro very well... as long as it holds and does what you tell it...
