all the negativity of this heli was the 2 + year delay on the kit, and the poor excuses and little information given by avant.

the negitivity is towards the company not the heli its self

So is there nothing wrong with the kit out of the box, is there no part of the heli that could possibly need some improvement? I have some friends wanting to get one of these helis and we're just gathering info on how the kits are. Any build tips and so on.

Thank you all

This heli is by far the best heli I have ever flown, the cyclic rate is unbeliveable compared to other 90 size helis out there. The helicopter is very quick, nimble, and yet very smooth in all its handling. The build is very easy and rather quick and the precision CNC Machining of all the parts is very impressive. I am very happy with mine and will continue to fly it for a very long time.

working on one now that I was asked to build and it is a total disaster
The head is not overly complex. Other than slightly different size grips and more delta options and adjustable timing, it is an MA Extreme head design. Sure it works great, it does on my Stratus and every other MA heli for many years now
Canopy looked good also.

But
missing PEM nuts
missing set screws
4 missing bearing blocks for the tail set
tail shaft holes misaligned
thrust bearings for the tail are defective and bind severely
hole in the tail clamp for the tail lever is way off, like 8 or 9 degrees crooked
swashplate ball has play up and down and side to side
not crazy about the airplane type fuel tank fittings either

Also no one is getting back to us and there is no # to call. Heliproz won't help and these are just what I have found thus far.

Finished the main build, engine in and plumped, all electronics (minus a replacement governor I am waiting for) and canopy needs to be painted.

I should be able to do a test spool up in the next day or so and report back.

Problems encounter during build:

- Misaligned tail boom holes - replace
- Missing 100mm pushrod - replaced
- Fractured tail support rod - replaced
- Missing tail bevel gear - replaced
- Missing 2mm pin - replaced
- High canopy seam (now sanded and fine)
- Missing brass spacer - replace

So far, bar the above listed issues (which are relatively minor) the quality seems great.

Derek is building mine as I don't have time to build it due to flood repairs and clean up, but I would suggest if you get one look it over closely and follow the building steps and watch Finless Bob's build videos.

On my side, nothing has been missing from the kit...
It flies likea dream come true...

Absolutely no issue here...

Hear me well... NO ISSUE AT ALL...

I've owned several 90 size helis until now... that one is simply the best I've seen until now... Period... Full Stop.

Feedback

I took my time to build the Aurora. Read the threads on the Aurora forum, and watched some of the build videos at Helifreaks, Finless Bob's Workshop (http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=75327).

The Aurora went together very quickly and smooth. I was only missing 2 shims for the tail rotor, and I stripped 3 pan head screws. I sent Augusto an e-mail and within 3 days I had the shims and replacement pan head screws!

The first flight was nerve wracking, new 2.4GHz radio (JR 9303), new heli, etc. The Aurora lifted off the ground very smooth, even with a blubbery rich engine. The collective response was (and still is) unbelievable.

It has taken 7-10 flights to get used to the new collective response, all my other helis feel like dogs! (woof!) At 11 flights, I am able to bring the Aurora closer to the ground.
Autos are way cool, it floats, and it doesn't matter which way you auto, into the wind or downwind.

So I guess the question would be.........would I buy another Aurora? Absolutely, yes. The first run of kits were hurried to get to the customers, missing parts, broken parts, etc.

So yes, by the time the hobby shops have Aurora's sitting on the shelves waiting for a good home, there won't be the issue of missing / bad parts.

Now as for Nitro fuel is concerned........ At $30.00+ per gallon for 30% nitro, electrics might be the hot ticket as long as the price for batteries comes down.

Just my 2 cents,

.
