The gyros are very cheap and basic CSM 180 gyros - the yellow cube shaped gyros. No remote gain adjustment but does the job.

Hope that helps.

Dauphin and helitronix

Hi Patty48, I am glad you like the video of me flying the dauphin for Mohan. We are using just CSM 180's on both pitch and role with a GY401 and a Hitec high torque digi on the tails. When I first flew the heli with the gyro gain low the heli would pitch up and to the left pretty sharply when the stick was released during forward flight.

I just slowly kept increasing the gyro gain until the heli would hold it own flying attitude efter releasing the sticks. It now flies abit more like a standard set-up heli but you can still feel its slightly different to handle. I also fitted an onboard start on it to make life really lazy !!

I just have to finished the fitment of the top hatches for him and then its time to strip for paint.

By the way, I am in the middle of sorting out a skilled visa to come to Oz as I am an ex-military aircraft technician. Have family in Newcastle so you never know I might bump into one day !!!

Hi Mohan & Tim
Thanks for the reply guys, Tim with my top hatches I bolted them from the inside at 4 points it saves having ugly screws you can see after being painted.
Mohan it might be a good idea to start your own Dauphin build thread in the scale section, you’ll get more feedback there, the section your Dauphin is in now is the Turbine section, I have a build thread there,so you can see where i'm at now with my build, I need to update it soon, I’ve added a couple of winch brackets pics in my gallery check them out!
Keep the great work up guys

Cheers Patty

Here is a video of the Daphin after the paint job.

The exhaust came lose. I believe that the plastic tube that joins the exhaust and the manifold is getting hot. The exhaust is not secured by any other means and I feel that now the screens and top hatch have been attached there is reduced air flow inside the fuse.

I am going to secure / clip the exhaust and perhaps check the temperatures of the engine and exhaust to ensure that it is not overheating.

It’s looking sweet Mohan
I was watching the video on YouTube before you posted it on here I’m still thinking of changing my dauphin to gasser.
Yes the change in note was the muffler coupling I think silicone joiner would suit better than the fitting that comes from Vario!!
Cheers Patty

Silicone vs "Plastic" coupler...

The heat and hydrocarbons produced by the gas/petrol engine will destroy a silicone coupler pretty quickly. The coupler supplied by Vario is some Teflon/PTFE type plastic and is known to be able to withstand very high temperatures. It does have a tenancy to slip off when hot and if it's squeezed too tight - as with a circumferential clamp - will ooz out from the clamp and pipe.

Best thing is to figure out how to either wire the silencer to the header so they can't move away from each other or install a clamp on each tube so a spring can hook to each clamp and pull the parts toward each other. Look at how expansion chamber silencers connect to off-road motorbike engines and you'll get the idea.

Paddy48: Had some good hands-on flight testing with that e-power Vario SA365 Dauphin two days ago. It's flying very nice now Seems there was a rotor head phasing adjustment needed to measurably improve the handling feel. I took and had help taking video. Need to edit and post.

So many heli's - too little time...
