FINALLY! I have been trying since this thread started. Not as spectacular as some of the previous posts but its small accomplishments that keep me going.

Thanks David! I have been trying in continuous shoot mode but the strikes were coming between shots so I just half pressed my shutter for focus and tried to anticipate the strikes. Got lucky!

No doubt. This has to be one of my favorite, ongoing threads. Second of course to the "Its a beautiful day in the neighborhood" thread.

Lets keep it going!

Heres a couple from the other night, the best one (pano) was of course out of focus, grrr

And a couple of the other ones was just fair cause it started to poor down and i had to get into the car and shoot from there, with the camera just hanging on the window frame

The one with the blue light strip in the lower right corner was actually kind of funny, cause it was an ambulance passing at the same time

Those kick ass! I like the 2nd one the best. Was that taken with a tripod? I assume it is because of the streaking of the emergency lights. If so, how long did you leave your shutter open? If not then you got some steady hands!

Hehe, the first and the last are on tripod, the two others are with the camera hanging on the lens leaning towards the window frame on the door with the window rolled down, as you can see there are some raindrops on the lens, but i thought, what the heck as long as i got some, cause it was flashing once every minute for a whole hour that night, drove around as the weather moved on, kind of fun actually, love to chase these things

I always shoot with 30 secs shutter when its almost dark, and i try to keep the iso as low as possible so you wont lose so much colour saturation in the lights, that is very noticeable if youre shooting fireworks fex

The advantage of shutting at 30 secs is that you wont get thousands of exposures to have just one descent pic, just keep pushing it twice a minute...
If there are several strikes during that period of 30 secs, the pic will just get even more spectacular

The longest that I can leave my shutter open is for 4 seconds. Its a point and shoot.

Still, on a nicely charged storm, that might be enough.

I would like to buy a nice dslr eventually.

Hey guys, check this cool gadget out

The Eagles use this at training camp, as soon as it strikes within 3 miles the photo/video guys come down from the cranes and everyone on the field goes inside.

Griffo-Thats a great shot! I will pass your compliments along to Pops. He definatly has some skills. I should probably watermark that for him but never done it before. Anyone want to give me a short tutorial?

Hootowl-Glad you didn't take one for the team.

I will happily share with you a tutorial to watermarking (for photoshop). Be sure to bookmark it. I always forgot to Jump to new layer.
