Have been actually flying four months. Greatest moments its hard to pick one as they keep comming. First hover with V2 was awesome, first stall turns with piro's, Nose in hover, rolls, flips, but I think most of all was building a Trex 500 as my first complete build and have it fly perfect right off the bench first flight.

"Your Greatest RC Heli Moment"

After having done thousand (literally) autos and one day, suddently, the engine dies in screaming agony. I don't think, I react. I turn it around to line it up with the wind. I can count the blades, its only 50 feet up, its surely a gonner. I feed in negative (alot) and I start hearing myself saying, "come on you piece of sh**, spool that damm rotor up" and then something I've never ever heard before... a very dim whining sound. The sound gets louder and louder, I can see the the visual effect of the blades appearing to turn in the opposite direction, then they start spooling up faster and faster and faster, I can feel the machine starting to vibrate as the energy is building up in the rotor, 10 feet, I wish I didn't have to flare, the whining sound has now become a loud humming. I flare, the bird hangs for a couple of seconds 5 inches over the ground. I land. I drop the radio and I sit down at the flight line. Nobody sais a word, they're all looking at me... I get up and I go fetch my bird... wow.

After 3 years, I can still see the entire sequence in slow motion when I close my eyes. I've had my share of flameouts but this one was unique.

I just remembered... one of the most memorable moments is when I first met CdrKing. I had no idea he flew helis, let alone him having a Synergy in his trunk. At the time I only flew a Trex450 and was only doing figure eight's and stall turns. He busted out his Raptor 50 and did some super smooth 3D. I was amazed to see the envied piro flip maneuver in person, within 20' feet from the ground! He continued to dazzle all of us new pilots with inverted autos and just milked every landing.

With humility, I asked him to fly my Trex450. He inspected my setup and deemed it air worth. And then the moment of truth was upon us. He did every smooth maneuver with my Trex450 he did as with his Raptor50. I was so enamored, amazed, and filled with excitement it almost brought a tear to my eye; I just could not believe what I was seeing. My own machine was doing ballet in the sky! He proceeded to hover inverted 3" from the ground. My eyeballs were popping out!!

Needless to say my socks were blown off, and I never was the same. I soon thereafter bought "Ultimate Heli 3D" hosted by Alan Szabo Jr., and it was all over from there. The 3D seed was planted and growing ever since.

Thank you CdrKing for your friendliness and willingness to help a new pilot. I'll never forget that day.

The day I took off those training gear, did a pattern, hit the IDLE 1 for the 1st time, and flipped the bird for the 1st time. All in the same day with my instructor standing next to me more scared than I was. I had been flying only 2 weeks.
