Newton

Every mechanical action has an opposite and equal reaction. The thrust that creates lift strikes the board causing equal lift in the opposite direction thereby resulting in 0 lift.

EDIT. I raised a similar conundrum here one time http://runryder.com/helicopter/t391257p1 to see how people would respond.

I believe of course that Bernoulli's principle plays a big role in setting up the Newtonian effect (talking about the aerodynamics of lift of course).
