I just bought a Honey Bee King 2. A real nice little Heli, I am having just one problem with it. The drive belt keeps riding over the top of the tension roller on one side of the heli. I have tried tightening the belt, moving the tension roller ..just about everything except taking the entire Helicopter apart. The belt itself looks to be in good shape...I sure would appreciate any advice my fellow pilots have for me. Other than the belt problem this looks like it will be a nice fun machine. I have been flying Shoguns for about 4 years never had a belt issue.

Lube the belt with silicone spray and get it as tight as possible. Should solve the problem. I had the same situation. You may only have to spray it once.

this is a common deal. the best way ive dealt with the problem is to back the screw out 80% and re aim the screw in the frame. if the belt is going up on the collar i angle the screw head out a bit. if the belt is riding down i move the screw heads closer together. does that make sense? once its set right you dont have to move them. it would be too easy if they just paid attention at the factory and screwed them in straight to begin with.

make sure the tail case is at 90 deg....a lot of people add a washer to the tensioner..but that brings it down...once I added washers, the belt never came off again

Another alternative, I glued a 1/8 thick piece of teflon to the bottom of the frame just above the belt as a stop. No way the belt can jump off the top now.

I've had the same issue ever since I didn't notice it initially and crashed because of it.

The way I solved it is I left the hbk2 on my shelf and fly my other helicopters. It's a decent paper weight, but I think a rock is better.

Actually, I got over my severe annoyance that this heli is advertised as RTF when it is truly more like a RTTAAUSPARA. (Ready to take apart and upgrade some parts and re-assemble.)

I recently ordered an upgraded belt and main pully which people claim fixes this problem. While I was at it I got a $50 hh gyro (gobee I think?) for it.

I hope after that it is RTF. I'll post back and let you know once I get it in the air.

No, its not 'so much work'.
You wouldn't expect to replace or upgrade the tensioner on the serpentine belt on a new car after you crash it the first time you drive it, would you?

No, but if I saw a car that was widely reported to drive and ride as good as a Toyota Corolla at less than the price of a Yugo, but you ABSOLUTELY HAD to replace the radiator and front brakes (still coming in WAY less than the cost of the Corolla), I'd replace the radiator and brakes and call it a day. And drive my new less-than-1/2 the price of a Corolla to work and gloat.

A soul in tension is learning to fly

Make sure the pin that sits in the belt pulley is really seating all the way down. This can also cause the problem you experience.

are you serious????????????????????????????????????..thats your response?????....UUUUHHHHHH...yeah if I crashed the front end of my new car and did damage to the tensioner..I would expect to replace it.............but had my tire come off the rim ...I would have stopped and fixed it...not continue to drive till I crashed it...

you still have not answered my question......if this RTF is so horrible...please inform me as to which RTF flies much better out of the box..I would like to buy one

sigh.
So, you're telling me that it doesn't bother you to buy something that is broken before you use it?

You obviously missunderstood my analogy with the car, I suspect on purpose so that you can say 'Are you serious?????'.

The analogy is that you buy a new car, and realize after you crash it that something was faulty before you crashed it. In the auto industry this would result in a recall and/or lawsuits.

However, as you put it, you would not be bothered by this becuase you would have known about the flaw before you made the purchase and you would have taken care of it and gloated at your enginuity. Congratulations to you for doing your homework.

I suppose you research everything with this level of diligence. My hats off to you, but what about the countless others who assume they are getting a product as advertised. Are those of us not entitled to be frustrated when it turns out to be flawed?

Get off your high horse.

An rtf that flies better out of the box? Well, of the three rtfs that I have owned, both of the coaxials flew better our of the box.

This isn't about flight characteristics though. This is about a faulty design implementation.

I don't understand why you are defending this so personnally. Its obvious it is flawed. Do you own stock in e-sky? Is that why you're taking this so personally? In the video game paradigm, you would be called a fanboy.

jrett should stick with coaxials he's not ready for CP helis. Anybody with that attitude and inability of overcoming minor difficulties will never make it with a CP heli. Wonder who sets up his helis for him after a crash? I didnt even add washers triflo fixed it never had a problem again. So what did I do wrong to make it work?

Oh and as for video game analogies go buy you a sim and play in your room.

No Really I am the club President!!!

My attitude toward faulty merchandise has nothing to do with my ability to fix a broken helicopter.

Are you bored? Why would you come on here and try to insult people who happen to share their oppinion on crappy goods?

Why would you assume, because I don't like to buy crap, that i can't fly/fix/ or fabricate anything? Are you really that smart?

I can only assume that your this defensive because you're either a fanboy or slightly retarded.

Let's see if you can refrain from personall insults. This is a discussion of helicopters, not a place to insult people.

OK who bought the 43t pulley before getting the cheap one to work?

Just because you cant fix your king and would rather just bash it than fix it and fly it. like the rest of us do with little to no problems that wouldnt also happen with any other CP heli out there.

Maybe you should consider a TREX I hear they have no problems at all.
Why would you come on here and try to insult people who happen to share their oppinion on crappy goods?
seems to me you are the only one with this mentality the rest of us already fixed ours.
