And now because of 2.4 there really isn't a reason to register if you dont care about the prizes
now this is really smart!!! you are sitting here complaining about IRCHA cheating you fellow pilot and then you come out with a statement like this! so you are telling people to come out and fly illegally. so now the powers to be will see that people are going to try to cheat the system so then we are back to having to impounding all radios again so they can track all the pilots. smart move big mouth!

CJames,

I might be full of crap, but I (as well as the 6 other people that were with me) knew about the rules on Friday. The following thread from way back when even has posts that others had heard the announcements a few times each day.

http://runryder.net/helicopter/t366111p1/

It will be interesting to see how many of the complainers here end up going to IRCHA this year. Everyone wants to complain, but no one wants to help make things better.

Just because you don't see the speed limit sign doesn't mean you can break the law by speeding...

LOL
Its called sarcastic response dude.
And people will do what they want. Try and stop em. Some don't want to pay to go there and there is nothing that can be done about. Myself,
I hate the way Ircha is run and the outragous fees they charge, However, I would bet money that I have paid more to them then you have. I have been a member and have gone to their event every year for a very long time. Just because I pointed out an ovious fact doesn't mean I subscribe to it.

And how exactly are they going to impound EVERY radio dude, walk up and down the flight line looking for them?
Even when there was only 72mHz, there WERE people that didn't sign up who went. Like I said, I ALLWAYS paid all dues and membership fees, (I really wanted to win a good prize.)

Which is worse, ignorance or apathy? I don't know and I don't care!

Ace, I complain about them, But every year I also signed up to help for 2 to 4 hours every day from Thursday to Sat. How many hours did you help out?
And no, while I have helped out every year for the past several years, I have never won a prize given just to the "vulenteers".

Which is worse, ignorance or apathy? I don't know and I don't care!

Vender tent cost

I know for a fact IRCHA increase the vender fee by 100% from last yr.
And took away the standing rule of" Any new Machine never flown at IRCHA gets to do a noon time demo" Kiss that good bye and say hello to higher vender prices.
Feel sorry for the new venders tring to bring a new product to the market, if you aren't Horizion or Algin you won't get any coverage at IRCHA.

Some posting here about this cost and that cost. Lets see an income statement and balance sheet. Then there is no guessing. If you can point me to a link on the IRCHA site with this info please do so. I have looked at everything there and can not find much infomation about much. I am sure that all the monies get spent as they always do. Funny how it seems to work that way. Anyone here ever have to much money? Give me email addresses for officers I'll email them. So far no response from anyone in charge. I'll say it again lot of fun at IRCHA Muncie even if you don't pay them a dime.

I see that IRCHA financial statement issue on one and IRCHA Jamboree fee being worked up as one issue. I feel they both should be treated separately.

I will not go into financial statement part.

As for the Jamboree;

Wherever I go, for anytype of entertainment, there is alway cost associated with it. I am expected to pay certain amount of money for movies, shows, gambling(most expensive for a little rush), heli flying, etc.

It really does not matter whether the event is organized by IRCHA or some other business group. I look at the value I get for the money spent. Do I care what vendors pay to get in? No! Vendors are like icing in the cake for what is an already fun event. What I look at is what I pay to get in. I remember paying either $25x2 or $35x2 last year. For that we got to use the facility for 4 days and they gave us one meal(not sure if I paid extra for this or not) and T-shirt. We even got a raffle ticket for a chances at $30,000+ in prizes(didn't win anything though ). We got to see all the top pilots doing their thing in one place and up close.

After figuring $15 for the t-shirt + one meal, I thought $5 per day (4 day event) on a event like this was a bargain. We drove 700miles so the gas price was hefty. But, it isn't the organizers fault that we live 700miles away.

So, the bottom line is that I felt I more than got my money's worth for 4 days of entertainment. Do I care if they made some money in the process? Nah!

If someone was clever enough to put together that gave good value to people and made money in the process, more power to them. Do I care that IRCHA organized this event vs some besiness group? Nah!

If I paid over $300 in gas and $200 for lodging, will I worry about extra $35 to get in? Nah! So, if you don't think you will complain about the Jamboree costs if some business ran it, lets leave that part out of the discussion. Open a separate thread for that. But, lets not mix them together. If you just look at the jamboree as another funfly, aside from the distance most will have to travel, I'll bet you will think it is the best value among all the local funflies.

We are not IRCHA members and don't see us being one anytime soon.
However, if IRCHA gave $15 discount to its members for the Jamboree fee, I see us beeing IRCHA members in a flash.

It is and has been IRCHA policy not to conduct IRCHA business on any of the public forums. If you have questions you may direct them to the officers via the website. A comment was mentioned about a virus. There was an attempt to attack the site from overseas. 8 hours after reporting it, the issue was fixed. I personally was at the web masters door the following morning to insure it was resolved.

I will speak for the treasurer as he is not a web junkie and rarely visits any forums. However he is a good book keeper to a fault. The financial report was 20 pages long ! Making it impossible to print, however there is a summary posted for members to access and if any of you are concerned. It is my fault the report was delayed as family emergency has consumed the last 20 days or so. All accounts from the jamboree were not settled until Dec. and the report was not expected until the annual Toledo meeting. Email me and I will try to answer any question you may have.

We have nothing to hide. This administration has worked hard and still stive to complete details for all the things we had visions of from 2 years ago.... we don't do this for a living, we must do things as time allows, so the wheels move slow at times. We wish to remind you we are a group of volunteers and pilots like you are and this takes hundreds of hours from each of us on the board. We get nothing for doing this, expect the satisfaction of a successful event.

There was much talk of $$$ and a lot of your math is misinformed. It is not as simple to say X times $$$ equals blank. If it was, the world would be a better place to live in. We encounter increases for port a poty’s to ice. Tents and table and soooooo much more. This year we anticipate an additional $250 to service /support each vendor above last year’s costs! That isn’t cheap!! We did not raise the fees out of greed, but a need to cover our BUTTS! Approx. $16+ from each of the pilots fee go to support that pilot ( dinner, shirts , badges etc ) Take note, there are many events out there that charge the same amount and you get NOTHING in return but the chnace to fly! But you guys don’t care, you want to fly and have a great weekend and leave that nonsense to others… Right? If you don’t want vendors and you don’t want prizes we can change that format as well. ( but the board kinda thinks this is a good show for everyone )

Also several have encountered a problem with pre-registration. As you go thru the steps, be patient. It is not the IRCHA website, but the credit card clearing house that appears to have stalled out, when you try a second time, the system has issues as it appears you are trying to bill your card twice. ( we can not change this !) ( and paypal would cost us BIG dollars as we have explored that option.)

Thanks to all of those that spoke on IRCHA behalf, hope to provide a great show again this year!
Please do not expect me to respond on this thread
