Probably not a virus but what the heck.

I think with the BS IRCHA pulled last year I won't be back.

The vendors had priority for sites vs first come fist serve. The normal party atmosphere of the event was squashed because of this in my opinion.

Also the way they gave out the prizes last year was stoopid. I hope that there is some more thought that goes into this event this year.

The field is beautiful and the flying is awesome but I would like to see the event focus being more on the hobby and not how much crap can we sell.
Not to get too off topic, but what happened last year?

No word from any of the officers on the report. Wonder Why? Maybe they don't have records. Just cash in cash out. Who knows where it all goes??

I don't think the officers regulary watch Runryder. Once they get the site fixed, try emailing direct from that site. They are pretty quick about responding. Also, I club I belonged to years ago, and was president for several, and my current club, does not publish financials on the website or in a newsletter. If members wanted to know, it was easy to find out but the clubs generally don't want that information out in the very public for many reasons. Maybe we can get Dave Milner (president of IRCHA) to put it on the website in the members only area. That way you would have to login to get such information.

Some guy won the grand prize then had it taken away. Remember, The grand prize was for ircha members only.

Ircha then changed the rules AFTER they told people to sign up and pay for membership, the rule change was no sponsored pilot could win the grand prize. The guy who won was field rep in name only who didn't even own a heli. He only signed up for membership for a chance to win as did other .

Agusto requested the rule change, but ircha wanted as many people to sign up and pay the membership fee so they didn't "tell" anyone about the rule change untill later in the day. By then Several people had already paid for new membership dues, some only signed up for the chance to win the prize, unfortanitly, due to ircha's dishonsty and their "feild rep status", if they had won they would have also been sorely disapointed.

Which is worse, ignorance or apathy? I don't know and I don't care!

I myself wont get involved with them either. We were going to have a heli fun fly event at one of the local clubs but some ircha members threw a fit becasue we were not wanting it to be anything done with them. so needless to say it was called off before it got off the ground and will never happen here as long as ircha members here want to push thier crap on others.

Not only was the Avant giveaway screwed but like my post says. The whole main drag should not be for vendors. They should be for First come First serve pilots. This keeps everyone down together and the party gets a rollin.

They gave all the electrical hookups to vendors and a special few that knew someone. That's crap in my book. Vendors are there to sell product and make money. They should be up on the hill.

As far as for the money well lets see I think they charged $100-200 dollars a tent for a vendor. Multiply that by about 100 vendors and that's $10,000-20,000.

And then the membership dues were they $30 or $60? Multiply by 700 plus members at the event. $21,000-42,000.

So all together it could have been between $31,000-62,000 dollars for IRCHA. Hmmmmm.....

Yeah i felt the prize drawings were rigged. I also noticed a lot of the heli kits were giving to the volunteer workers which i though sucked.

The sponsored pilot issue was known and announced well before the drawing, it is just that people chose to not pay attention to the announcements which were made several times. Kind of like all the announcements for the return of the pagers when they had been out way too long. Do we have to beat this dead horse again?

DO NOT VISIT the IRCHA website. There is a virus there as others have reported. My software found it and stopped it. Holy heck, how long does this have to go on before they fix their website?!

You guys stop hijacking my thread. This is not an IRCHA complaint thread. I am interested in the treasures report. This IRCHA Fun Fly is a well run, fun time. There may be a few problems (which are to be expected) but over all it is well organized event. What happens to all the money and why do they feel the need to raise the fees? I have emailed the treasurer twice now with no response from anyone. Wonder why?

That is BS. I registered on Friday morning and they didn't say a DAMN THING about sponsorship to me yet they tried to sell me the membership on the prize pretense. I don't give a crap what the rules are as long as it is made known. That was a really shady move on their part.

Wow
There are some people out there that seem to be quite unhappy with IRCHA, I have always enjoyed my trips to IRCHA but I can see there is room for improvement.

I talked to Mr. Milner at IRCHA, by phone and by email quite a bit this past year and he really does seem to be a nice man that really loves the hobby. And in defense of him, I will tell you that IRCHA has a lot of cost that we the average joe probably don't realize. For instance, if I remember correctly the cost of tables alone at IRCHA was around 5,000 dollars. That is a lot of money for tables. I also heard that they don't get that site cheap either. AMA expects a certain amount of money for leasing the Ircha site.

Not sure how they give out site selections. If the vendors are paying for the site then they probably feel they should get preference in selecting a site.

So they are having to be careful about where they spend their money, the past few years they gave a 1000 dollars to various different regional IRCHA events. I don't think there will be any IRCHA regional events this year, they are NOT able to do this, because they don't have the money. Like everything else their cost keeps going up. However it would be good if they explain all this to everyone, so they would know where the money is going.

It was too bad they had a misunderstanding about who won the grand prize last year. They wanted to give it to someone that had no sponosership at all, but they probably should have made that it a little more clear from the start too, because I felt sorry for the guy who orginally won it at first. I know I would not have liked the way it turn out if it had happen to me.
