coax for the obsticle course:
Actually, a guy flew an MCX. He made it half way up the chute. He of course did not count.

HeliKv,
Did you find any Heli pilots there that could fly better than you and give constructive advice? That makes a huge difference. I don't have anyone more experianced than me at my local flying club. If I go to the MHA field 45 minutes from me, then I'm more like the middle skill level and it pushes me to work harder and in the end, I feel better trying to progress faster. I've only been able to fly with them 2 times cause they only fly on the weekends and I'm a weekday flyer. You may find that if there's better pilots who are contructive, it will help you alot.

BTW, Bigger I find floats in the air, it's almost like cheating. I flew my e550 for the first time in many months at the fun fly and although it does not have the power to weight ratio as my 500, it would just float when I flip it over. I did my first piro flips with a 450 and 500 months ago and when I did it with the e550, it was slower and it did not jump around as much making it look better. With the little 450's I just feel like everything's till possible, you just need quicker hands and less margin to recover cause it's faster.

the slight breeze was creating a wind tunnel and as he got further up, it shoved him into the wrapping. Plus it got harder to see through the wrapping as well. that was one of my problems as my tail was closer to the wrapping then I thought.

unfortunately i could not make it on saturday as i had some family things to take care of,I was going to go on sunday but it was like 30-40mph winds and poss thunderstorms,so i didn't want to chance the long drive, but I am going to get down to that field one of these days, maybe even sometime this season.i have a few funflys on my calander, as a rep I try to get to as many as possible, but this one kind of snuck up on me and i could not make it

But about funflys,my FIRST funfly, I went to Lums Pond with my HBK and MT,and there was Alan Szabo and Bobby Watts throwing it down on the flight line,I couldn't even do nose in yet and i was just BLOWN AWAY.I went right up to both of them and asked all kinds of questions and they were as cool as could be,spent as much time as i asked of them and it really influenced my flying(my learning progression) and how I treat newbies, what a great experience. They are called FUNFLYS,go there and have fun, every pilot could only do tail in at one time,so there is no reason to look down on anyone.if you are at the field hovering tail in all day, thats what its all about

I flew only one battery on the 400, and one on my plane. I didn't have much interest flying by myself and got bored. I lost power on my plane bringing it in for landing. Ended up with a crash landing and tore up a wing. The heli did great and worked as advertised.

I got 5 batteries on HBK and only one on G5. Then, strong wind came and I abandoned flying calling it a day. Looks like I need to inspect power setup on G5. At the end of 5 min flight, with a bunch of flips and power moves, Jazz cannot sustain 2800HS in hover. (G5 has low HS). Battery, motor, ESC are cool. Or I need to change motor or do nothing and enjoy flight. With new Inolab servos vs HS65MGs, looks like it is better. More connected feel.

I met up with Marty, Spencer and a couple of other guys this evening. I burned three packs through my 260 airplanes and a pack through my Mini Titan. I also got the opportunity to fly Spencer's Tiger 60 airplane, which I retured the favor and allowed Spencer to fly my Mini Titan. Anyway, it was a good time.

I'm really having a good time flying helis these days. Well, I guess I've always had a good time, but the past few months I've made major progress with my heli flying skills and that keeps things very exciting for me. I enjoy taking flying my helis out quite a distance from me. Some of my flying buddies say that I fly my helis like an airplane. At first, I didn't know how to take that comment. Now, I realize that it's actually a compliment. I just simply enjoy actually "flying" my helis and periodically throwing in some flips, rolls and inverted hovering and inverted FF. Yes, there are other maneuvers to learn; however, I'll never be the 3D stick-banging type of pilot. I'm very content with how I fly .

Below is a short video recorded by Marty of me flying my Mini Titan...a few flips, a couple of rolls and some inverted FF.

Jim next time we are out flying and my 450 will stop being a pain, we are going to do what me and brian did. The skid in landing contest.
You seem to be getting into autos so i bet you will like the skid in landings.

We may have to do that, Spencer.

By the way, guys...ask Spencer about what he thought of flying my Mini Titan. Spencer made the comment to me that my Mini Titan felt like it could hover hands-off. Of course, my response to Spencer was...it's all about setup .

Flew some on Friday. I was meeting a guy to make a trade and had some time to kill. The sun starts to get into our eyes at our field in the evening. It sucks and I'm not used to it.
Guy was 45mins late. I traded him 2 450's + some spare parts for an Align 500. I'm putting a 3G onto it that I traded the 450 Pro I won for. The guy park flies and toasted his Minititan hitting a trailer. He's a bit intimidated by the 500 and it had a wobble (I sorta guessed why), so as we were doing test flights, he had 70% pitch at center stick with 40% throttle. I fixed that and it was smooth as silk, then asked "you still wanna trade", He paused and said yea, that's too much for me.

I met up with a guy about an hour from here at a combat contest, he's more my skill level then the people I fly with so it was good to be pushed to do more things. Not many heli pilots at my AMA field but we are talking about adding an area to the west that is 2.4ghz HELI only. There are a number of park fliers who are good pilots who wont fly at our club cause it's too restrictive on the weekends and evenings.

I did fly the heli yesterday, 450 and 500. Was windy and put the 450 away after first flight.

Shot this during an event this weekend.
It was running an Electric motor and a pack from my 500.
I landed it in the grass on purpose, The side walls hit the grass and make it tumble on landing. We'll have to mod the landing gear for next year.

That was cool. It is so funny because a friend of mine was just talking about a snoopy doghouse rc yesterday. I got to fly yesterday and my elevator on my plane locked up less than a minute into flight. So I had to land it using engine power to bring it down. I flew the 400 as well and kept having a problem with a tail wag issue. No matter how much I messed with the gain, it still did it. I found two issues last night that probably caused it. My gyro tape was splitting and I found a worn spot on the gear which could cause it as well.

Here is a video I was shooting when my elevator locked up.

Just got in from flying. Flew my Extra 260 planks for a couple of flights, then brought out the Mini Titan. Performed some loops, rolls, flips...everything was going great. While performing some inverted FF, I lost the heli and suddenly plowed the Mini Titan at nearly full negative collective straight into the ground. My fault, plain and simple...call it a dumb thumb or whatever. I wish I had the crash on video because it was very spectacular.

The damage...canopy, main blades, flybar, one blade grip, feathering shaft, one washout arm, main shaft, main gear, battery tray, belt pulley gear, stripped gears in two cyclic servos, skids and damaged gyro case. Oddly enough, the main fram, tail boom and tail components were unscathed...just as in my previous crash. I'll tell you what, the main frame, boom holder and tail boom on these Mini Titans are very strong. Anyway, looks like I have some fixin to do .
